By the way: For the ones who donot know: Podencos are hunting dogs specially breeded in Andalucia and they have a similar horror end as the galgos when they are no good for hunting.
On the other hand, they are not so lucky as the galgos to find homes as people donot know them as they know the galgos.

Mira que son graciosos estos galgos! Tienen camas por toda la casa de su tamaño pero nada, se acuestan en las camas de las pequeñas, bien enrolladas. Claro, estan puestos al lado del radiador asi que, calentitas estan!

Those galgos are so funny. There are beds for them all over the house but they prefer the small beds of our small dogs! Well, understandable if you see that those beds are near the heating.

Hace solo una semana que tuve que tomar la dificil decision de eutanasiar a esta joven preciosidad. Le vencio el moquillo, asqueroso virus que ya no existe en los paises del norte de Europa porque alli los vacunan desde hace muchos años, como debe ser. Aqui no. ¿Para que? La vacuna vale unos 20€ y eso es mucho dinero para gastar en un perro,¿ no? Hijos de su madre! Esta es la 7tima victima de moquillo que he tenido que sacrificar. este virus vive en la perrera de donde saco la mayoria de los perros. Solo tenia un año y todo una vida por delante. Que descanses en paz mi preciosa niña. Yo te echo mucho de menos. Espero que alli donde estes, seas por fin feliz! Me acordare siempre de esa mirada dulce tuya! Por lo menos has experimentado 3 semanas de amor en la casa de la voluntaria que con tanto amor te cuido.

It has only been a week ago that I had to take the difficult decision to eutanise this young beauty. She lost the fight against destemper. Destemper doesnot exist in most of the countries in Europe because animals get their vaccinations but here.....Why should the hunter spend 20€ on a dog? Bloody hunters! This is galgo number 7 who I have had to eutanise because of this horrible virus. This virus "sits" in the killing pound from where I save most of the dogs I have. She was only 1 year young and a whole life to live. Rest in peace my dear sweety. I miss you very much. I hope you will be happy there where you are now! I will always remember the sweet look of your eyes! At least you experienced 3 weeks of love and care thanks to a volunteer who took you home to look after you.

Telma, mi podenquita/ Telma, my little podenca

Esta preciosa podenca a la que he llamado Telma en honor a una amiga de EEUU de GRIN estaba destinada para mi. Voy por una carrtera y veo un podenco comiendo algo, que resulto ser un vomito, en el arcen de una carretera. Me paro y intento cojerla. No habia forma, se asustaba, como suele pasar. No insisti demasiado porque me daba miedo que se fuera hacia la carretera. Con toda la pena de mi alma me fui. Una hora despues me llama una de las voluntarias llorando: acababa de atropellar a una podenca y ¿que hace?. Pues nada, llevarla al veterinario que cuando yo pueda voy. Cuando cuelgo recuerdo que la chica en cuestion vive por la zona donde yo habia visto a la podenquita. Y pense: ¿Sera la que intente cojer? Cuando llego al vet la veo y SI....era ella. Estaba destinada que yo la salvara!
Resulta que tenia chip y el dueño no contestaba al telefono asi que mi vet ya habia llamado a la perrera.....Cuando me entero digo: ¿COMOOOOO?, Ni hablar. Me hago responsable. Como parecia que tenia fractura, ya eran las 20.00 horas y mi vet no tiene guardia, la llevaron a un hospital a una 1/2 hora. Alli ingreso el jueves dia 9 Febrero y hoy la he podido sacar y la he puesto en una buena pension ya que no tengo sitio en el refugio. Es increible la suerte que ha tenido. No ha necesitado cirurgia, anda cojita de la pata izqda delantera pero, segun las radiografias, no tiene nada roto. Si parece que el rabo esta dañado porque pasaria la rueda por encima. No se le ve nada aparentemente pero hay que vigilarlo y si se pone mal, amputarsela.
Ahora lo mejor: Me llama el cazador, dueño de la perra y me dice que a la perra la entrego a la perrera hace 4 dias......Llamo a la perrera y resulta que de alli se habia escapado. habian intentado "cazarla" sin exito. Mi niña ha tenido mucha suerte de ser atropellada por una de mis voluntarias!! Si no, hoy ya estaria muerta. Se pondra bien y es muy muy dulce.

This little podenca which I have called Telma in honor to my dear friend from GRIN USA who helps a lot to safe galgos and podencos from so far, was destinated to me for sure.
I came back from the killingstation and saw her next to the road. I stopped and turned round and tried to catch her. But she was very shy and I was afraid of frightening her more and she could run away crossing the road. So I had to leave her with all the sorrow of my heart.
I had to go to a vet at Fuengirola and on my way I was called by a volunteer. She was crying and said she had just hit a podenco with her car. What could she do? I said: take her to my vet and I will go there when I come back from the vet in Fuengirola (another one). When the call was finished I thought that it might be the same podenca I had seen on the road as this volunteer lives around that area. When I finally arrived at the vet where they took the podenca to I saw her and YESSSSSS, there she was. She seemed to have a broken leg and some other injuries (her tail) but the xray was broken at my vet and it was late and she needed hospitalitation. By the time I arrived they had found out that Telma had a chip. They had called the owner. No reply. So the vet said: to the killingstation so they can contact the owner. I said: NO WAY!!!!! I will be responsable.
The volunteer took her to a hospital in another village and there she has stayed from Thursday till Monday. No need for surgery, nothing broken. She limps a bit but that will heal by itsself. Het tail is hanging "loose" and that also has to heal or if not, it has to be amputated.
The good news is that the volunteer who hit her has taken Telma into foster!!! This little beauty will have a happy life from now on. Only need to find a lovely family for ever!!!!

Esta es Puka. Fue encontrada en Ronda, Malaga, y me pidieron si la podia acoger en el refugio. Si, claro! Pues ha sido adoptada por una chica de Lugo hace ya un mes, pero lo mejor es que la chica vino a buscarla! 2000 kilomteros ida y vuelta! Y todo eso para que no viajara una compañia de transportes porque tardan casi dos dias en llegar de Malaga a Lugo. Ya me ha escrito y es increible lo bien que se ha adptado Puka, que ahora se llama Luna. Tiene otro perrito pequeño, tambien adoptado y se llevan de maravilla.
Vuelvo a decir que tambien en España hay muy buenas adopciones! Ya he perdido la cuenta pero creo que han sido ya 8 los adoptados en la peninsula y hay varias en espera de la visita a la casa. El programa de Cesra Millan que se emitio en tv sobre los galgos ha hecho mucho. Espero que no sea una moda pasajera.......Pero creo que no, porque el que una vez tanga un galgo, siempre querra otro.

This is Puka. She was found in Ronda, a village of malaga. They called me and asked if I could take her on. Of course! She was adopted a month ago by a girl from Lugo, right up north Spain. The adoptant didn´t want her to travell by a transport company so she drove 2000 km forth and backwards to come and pick her up!! She has another little dog, rescued aswell and they get on very well! The adoptant is just delighted with Puka, now Luna! And Luna is adapting really well. How can it be otherwise if they give you love, food and you can sleep on a sofa....
I have had about 8 adoptions now in Spain which is very good. People here are starting to know what beautifull dogs they are and after that Cesar Millan has done a TV programm about the galgos people are more interested. I hope it will not only be a fashion.....

A que parece que ha vivido en una casa toda la vida? Esta es Sombra, 7 años y pasado de un galguero a otro hasta que termino en la perrera y la pude sacar. Estuvo poco tiempo en el refugio porque, logicamente, una buena persona se enamoro de ella con esa mirada dulce y de "Ayudame" que tiene. Pues asi vive ahora!

Doesn´t it look like she has ever lived like this? This is Sombra, 7 years young and has been gone through various galguero´s hands till she ended up at the killingstation and I took her out. She hasn´t been with me for long because a good person saw her and fell in love with her, of course....with that lovely, sweet look saying: "Help me". Well this is how she lives now!

A esta preciosa galguita la saque en julio de la perrera y estuvo 1 mes en pension hasta que SOS galgos encontro una adopcion para ella en Sitges. Ya era guapa entonces pero ahora mas todavia. Normal con los cuidados que esta recibiendo. Yo la llame primero Blacky porque creia que era macho. Cuando me di cuenta que era hembra la llame Amor y la familia adoptiva la ha llamado Fosca.

I took this beauty out of the killing station in July and she spend one month in a pension till she was adopted in Sitges through SOS galgos. She already was beautifull when I took her out but now she is even more beautifull! I first called her Blacky as I thought she was a male. When I saw she was a female I called her Amor (love) and the family has called her Fosca

Dos nuevos que llegaron ayer de un pueblo de Cordoba, puente genil, igual que Harry, que ha vuelto al refugio despues de que se haya recuperado muy bien en una casa de acogida.
Nos hizo llorar a mas de una cuando vimos como comian cuando llegaron, sobre todo Galan, el negro. El pobre se atragantaba. Le pusimos 4 veces de comer y todo se lo comio con mucha anxia. Ya hoy ha comido con mas tranquilidad. Viene lleno de heridas en todo el cuerpo y le falta pelo. Blas, el gris de pelo duro, tiene una dermatitis muy severa. Los encontro un señor que los vio comiendo de la basura y los cogio sin problemas. Son increiblemente cariñosos. No tienen rincor hacia el ser humano por haberles hecho pasar estas calamidades. Es increible. Seguro que, con los cuidados que le damos, se recuperen pronto. Ahora a hacer las analiticas y esperar que no tengan leishmania......
Y Harry ya esta bastante recuperado. Ya apoya la pata operada y a penas cojea. Tambien ha cogido peso en su casa de acogida.

Two new ones who arrived yesterday from Puente Genil, a village in Cordoba, same village where Harry was found. More than one of the volunteers cried when they saw the way they were eating their food. So much anxiety, poor boys! Specially Galan, the black one. He ate 5 bowls of food yesterday. Today he seemed to be more relaxed about the food. Look at their bones. They both have a severe dermatitis. But they will recover with the good care they will receive from now on. Still have to do the tests and lets cross fingers that they donot have leishmania.
And Harry, who was found in the same village with a broken leg (see previous story) has recovered a lot after having been looked after by a lady who took him for foster during 3 weeks. He is now back at the kennel again. Hope they will all find a good home soon.

mas horror/more terror

A esta pobre galga kla han utilizado para entrenar sus perros de pelea. Si, tambien los usan para eso, porque no suelen ser peleones asi que el perro de pelea se puede ensañar bien con ellos. Que asco de gente, de verdad. estos personas se les deberia echar ante los leones como se hacian antiguamente.
Que triste. menos mal que esta pòbre fue rescatada, lo peor es pensar que otros muchos mueren de esta forma tan terrible y no nos enteramos. Me quita el sueño por las noches

This poor poor galga has been used for dog fights. Yes, galgos are used for that aswell because they normally are no fighters so the dog in question can do whatever he wants with them and be trained. What a horrible people live in this world. I would throw them in front of the lions as many many years ago. How sad. Lucky enough this one was rescued but the worse is that many others die in this way and we will never know......That makes me stay awake at night....

Y esta preciosidad???? Pues deambulaba por un pueblo de Malaga y una chica me contacto. Le dije que si, que si la pudiera coger me la quedaba. Fue facil de cogerla porque es un amor. Debe de tener no mas de 1 año. Pues aqui esta, revolucionando a todos con sus juegos locos. Se llama Ayla.

And yes, she is not afraid and a lovely girl. She is not more than 1 year old. Well, here she is, driving the others mad with her plays. She is called Ayla.

Los que tuve que dejar en la perrera cuando fui a sacar los tres que he comentado. Los difuni pero sin exito asi que volvi la semana pasada para volver a hacer mas fotos y volver a difundirlos. Mi tristeza fue encontrarme con que el macho blanco con las manchas negras en la cara ya no estaba.....ni una blanca de la que no habia hecho fotos la primera vez. Pregunte y me dijeron que habian muerto....asi que quedaban 3. Volvi a difundir y afortunadamente me dijo una organizacion francesa que se hacian responsables de ellos. Asi que el jueves fui a sacarlos. Siempre me pasa igual: voy a por dos y me traigo 3. Esta vez fui a por 3 y me traje 4 porque, halleluya! La blanca estaba alli! Claro que la saque aunque no tenia idea donde meterla. Bueno, ya estan estos 4 a salvo y, aunque estan un poco apretados, caben y se llevan bien. Eso nunca se sabe, claro. Pues la 4ta que me trajo ya tiene adopcion en Alemania. Pero que suerte!!!! Ya me han dicho que hay 2 nuevas..........

Those are the ones I mentioned and had to leave behind in the killingpound when I went for 3. I had to leave 5 behind (see below) and I took fotos which I emailed around to find a solution for them. No reply, so I went back to take more photos and found out that two of the five were missing. The white one with the black spots on his face and a white female. I asked and they told me that they had died.....So I emailed the 3 left around and was so lucky to find a French organisation who commited themselves to respond for their pension and treatments. Great! So I went back on Thursday to take them out. My surprise: The white one was there!!!! So, of course I took her although I didn´t know where to put her. Well I have put 3 in some kennels although the ideal is 2, but they fit well and have no problems between each other. You never know how they get on. The white one has already an adoption in Germany!!! I am so lucky! I have been told that there are 2 new ones......

Sacha, la de la primera foto es la que lloraba tanto. Tiene nada mas que un año y 3 meses y tiene las tetillas de acabar haber criado una camada. Se ve que le han echado un macho con el primer celo, ha tenido sus cachorros, el galguero se los ha quedado y a ella la ha abandonado en la perrera. Normal que lloraba!!!
El de color chocolate, Txoco, es el que en principio no iba a sacar. Menos mal porque tiene la tos de la perrera. Si lo hubiera dejado alli ya tendria nuemonia y hubiera muerto. Despues del 3er dia de tratamiento ya no tose y hasta quiere jugar.
Y el blanco es el de la pata inflamada. Ya va mejor!

Sacha, the one of the first phot is the one who was crying all the time. She is ony 1 year and 3 months old and you can see that she has been breeding. They must have covered her at her first period. Then she got pregnanat and once the puppies were born the galguero must have kept them and dropped her at the killingpound! Totally understandable that she was crying! Poor soul.
Txoxo, the chocolate color one. It was not my intention to take him out but he was toghether with Titan which had his leg injured. (see below). He has kennel cough and if I would not have taken him he would have neumonia by now or would be dead like the other 2. After 3 days of treatment he is much better and wanting to play.

que triste/how sad

Hace un poco mas de una semana fui a la perrer para ver cuantos galgos habian entrado. Habia 8 y solo tenia sitio para 2.....Como puedes elegir? Es imposible pero hay que hacerlo.....Por la noche, pensando, decido sacar a dos hembras pero cuando fui el dia siguiente a sacarlos vi que habia un macho que tenia una inflamacion en una pata y se via que le dolia. La veterinaria se iba de vacaciones y me dijo que era dificil que alguien le tratara si no estaba ella......asi que decidi sacarlo. Estaba con otro galgo y cuando saque al de la pata inflamada este se quedo mirando: y porque me dejas aqui???? Total, tambien lo saque. Y una galguita pequeña tipo whippet que no hacia mas que llorar. Deje alli a 5 mas con todo el dolor de mi corazon. Los difundi pero sin exito. Ninguna respuesta asi que fui otra vez a la perrera hoy para sacar mas fotos y me encontre con la pena de que 2 habian muerto......solo quedan 3 alli. Son los de la foto. Adelgazan por dia y tienen la cara cada vez mas triste.....Lo he vuelto a difundir y ya he recibido alguna respuesta. Los tengo que sacar de alli como sea pero el problema de siempre: dinero. Porque los tendria que meter en pension ya que no tengo sitio en mi refugio.

About thn days ago I went to the killingstation to see how many galgos were there. I only had space for two and I found there were 8.....How can you chosse which ones you will take????Imposible. At night I decided to take out two females. Went there next day and found that a male had an injured leg. The vet was going on a weeks holiday so he wouldn´t be treated. I decided to take him. He was toghether with another galgo male and when I took out the injured one he looked like: why not me also???? Of course I took him out. And I also took an small female whippet type because she was crying all the time. I left 5 behind but emailed them around to find other people who could take them. No response at all. I went there again today to take more photos and I found that 2 of the 5 had died. The ones on the photos have survived till now but I have to take them out if not they will suffer the same bad luck. I will succeed!!! The proble is as always: money. I donot have space so have to put them in pension.....

Y este es Zeus. Parece mayor por sus canas pero solo tiene 4 años. Los galgos negros empiezan a tener canas a muy temprana edad. Zeus es guapisimo pero sobre todo buenisimo. Se lleva bien con los demas perros y busca cariño humano continuamente. Pero eso todo el mundo que llega al refugio se lo quiere llevar.....Espero que tenga suerte pronto en encontrar una casa.

This is Zeus. He looks old but he is only 4 years young. Black galgos normally have grey hair at a very young age. Zeus is a beautifull big size, rough hair galgo but he specially is a very sweet dogs. Always looking for love of people. He gets on very well with the other dogs. He aswell deserves finding a home soon.

A Mar la saque de la perrera a mediados de Noviembre junto con otros 3. Gracias a la difusion por facebook ha encontrado una familia fantastica que la ha adoptado. Ya tienen 2 galgos y casi se llevan tambien a Zeus, un macho precioso, negro de pelo duro. Pero.....los maridos son mas cautos y no hubo manera. Mar va a tener por fin una vida feliz. Es jovencita asi que ha tendio mucha suerte de poder tener una larga vida digna. Un abrazo Mar!!!!!

I took Mar out of the killing pound mid November with another 3. Thanks to facebook Mar was adopted soon by a fabtastic family who already has 2 galgos. They almost took Zeus, a beautifull black rough hair male, but the husband was a bit more contious that 4 would be too much. Mar will have a happy life. She is still young and she has been very lucky to be able to live a long and deserved good life. Hugs Mar!!!!!

Harry

A Harry lo encontraron 2 chicas en la calle de un pueblo de Cordoba. Tenia la pata rota y estaba en los huesos. Al hacerle una radiografia de su estomago, este estaba lleno de aceitunas! Pobre amor! Lo unico que habia encontrado para comer. Se opero de la fractura de femur y se le puso una placa con 8 tornillos. Lo acogi en el refugio con la buenisma suerte que una de las voluntarios se odfrecio para acogerlo en su casa. Ahora si se recuperara pronto! Con los mimos y la buena comida se repondra! Que suerte Harry!

Harry was found in a village nearby Cordoba. He had a broken leg and was all bones. When the vet took an x ray of his stomach it was full of olives! That was the only thing he found to eat! Poor love! He had his surgery and has a plate now with 8 screws. I took him up in the shelter and he has been so lucky because one of my volunteers has taken him into foster. Now he will heal quickly and gain weight for sure! Lucky harry!

Gracias a las difusiones por facebook hemos encontrado muy buenas adopciones en nuestro pais. Cada vez mas se aprecia este precioso animal tambien en nuestro pais. Logicamente se hace con cuestionario pre, visita a casa. contrato y seguimiento. Podeis seguir lo que pasa en el refugio a traves de facebook: refugio galgos en familia

Tengo muchas fotos pero hay que editarlas y para eso no tengo tiempo. Gracias a mis ya muchos voluntarios no paramos de encontrar buenos adoptante, hacer cosas para recaudar dinero etc. Es un sin parar pero muy bien. Pues si, tenia sobrepoblacion pero ya se han ido 2 a Holanda, 2 en adopcion, 2 en acogida. Se iran 2 mas dentro de unas 3 semanas a su casa de adopcion asi que fenomenal. Ahora necesito parar un poco porque lo ultimo ha sido muy estresante. Tengo que llevar varios perros al veterinario, castrar/esterelizar y eso tambien requiere su tiempo. Ya tomare las riendas de nuevo dentro de poco para seguir con esta lucha.

I have many photos but they all have to be edited and I just donot have the time for it. Thanks to my now many volunteers I have found various good adoptants, aswell in Spain, they are helping me with funds (a calender for example). It is non stop but really amazing! I had overbooking at the kennel with 17 but now I only have 11. 2 to Holland, 2 adopted, 2 in foster. In two or three weeks 2 others will go to their forever home so this is really great! I have to stop now for a while (not long) because the last weeks/month have exhausted me and I have to neuter almost all of them, have to take various to the vet etc. I will take on more once this has been organised.

Por fin un momento para escribir! He podidio sacarlos a todos!!! Asi he estado de liada. Analiticas, veterinario, tratamientos, recojerlos, cuidarlos, mimarlos......etc Pero saque a todos los que vi. Los ultimos 3 el miercoles pasado. Ahora mismo hay 17! Y hay bastantes dias que estoy sola para cuidarlos y eso dos veces al dia, asi que un poco agotada si que estoy, pero....FELIZ!!! Ahora hace falta encontrarles adoptantes. Ya se que habran entrado mas, seguro. Ya vere lo que puedo hacer con los siguientes. Es plena temporada.
Hoy ha sido un dia de lujo! 4 ayudantes! Aproveche para ir al vet y preparar los tratamientos para "el turno de la tarde" que me lo hacen tambien unos voluntarios. Ahora hay muchisimo trabajo.

Finally a moment to write! I have been able to safe all!! Therefor I am so busy. Tests, vet visits, treatments, pick them up, take care of them, give them love.....etc. But I have been able to take the ones I saw there out, The last 3 last wednesday. I have 17 in total now! And there are many days that I am on my own at the kennel and that twice a day, so I am a little exhausted but ....HAPPY! Now I have to find adoptions for them. I know that there are more to come or already have, for sure. I will see what I can do for them aswell. It is high season now.
Today was a luxury day! 4 volununteers to help! I took the chance and went to the vet and prepared all medicines for the afternoon shift, done by other volunteers. There is a lot to do now.

Esta es nuestra mascota Ronda, un podenquito con quisaz algo de cruce, que se colo en el refugio de galgos. Bueno, no, es que me llamaron cuando estaba cayendo un diluvion. Estaba empapada en la calle con 5 mesesitos. Quien puede decir que no a eso? Lleva un mes y es una moneria aunque verla entre los galgos tan grandes y algunos brutos cuando juegan da un poco de susto. Pero ella ya ha encontrado donde esconderse cuando los demas la "acosan" demasiado. Luego sale de su escondite y les busca otra vez. Es un gustazo verla. Es muy graciosa y cariñosa. Lo importante ahora es encontrarle una casa de adopcion o de acogida......Vaya tarea....

This is our mascot Ronda, a puppy podenco with maybe a little mix, who slipped into the kennel. Well, no. It was so that I was called and they said that there was an abandoned podenco puppy, totally wet due to the heavy rains last months. Who can say NO to that? She has been at the shelter now for a month and is so so funny and sweet. Seeing her between the big galgos frightens a litlle bit but she is very inteligent. When it is too much for her, she knows where to hide. But then again she comes out and provoques the others to play and so on. Very sweet to watch. Now the important thing is to find her an adoption or foster home because a kennel is not a place for a puppy to grow up.

Pues si! En el ultimo mes y medio he sacado/voy a sacar a todos estos preciosos galgos! Y, por desgracia, ya no tengo mas sitios ni casas de acojida! pero estos estan a salvo. Los que se ven dentras de las rejas estan todavia en la perrera pero espero poder tener tiempo de sacarlos el sabado....!

Yes! In the last 1 1/2 month I have been able to take on all those beautifull glagos. Well, the ones behind the bars are still in the killing station but I hope to have time enough to take them out on saturday. Unfortunately I donot have more space or foster homes left, but these have been saved!

En total he sacado 4 galgos nuevos pero de 2 no tengo las fotos todavia. Estan flacos, sucios y con la tos de la perrera, como todos los que salen de alli. El macho, llamado Bruno, es terriblemente asuston. Hoy me ha mordido cuando le he tenido que levantar en brazos para meterlo en la furgoneta. Pobrecito, temblaba por todo su cuerpo. Cada vez me vuelvo a preguntar: Como pueden hacerle esto a un animal? Como sufren cuando los deje alli su verdugo! Lo peor es que he tenido que dejar alli a 7 mas, y mas que hay dentro en la zona de cuarentena. Ya ha empezado el abandono masivo y solo puedo hacer lo que puedo. Ni tengo dinero suficiente, ni espacio para todos. Que impotencia! por eso hoy es un dia por un lado feliz por haber podido salvar a 4 y por otro lado muy triste porque alli hay muchos mas que necesitan ayuda.....

I have saved 4 galgos today from the killingpound todaqy. I haven´t got photos of the other two. They are skinny, dirty and have kennel cough as all the ones I take out from that place.The male, Bruno, is totally traumatised, tembling over his whole body. He bit me when I lifted him up to put him in my van. Totally frightened poor boy. I ask myself ever time: How can you do this to an animal? They suffer so much stress when their hunter leaves them there but those people just donot care. The worst is that I have had to leave 7 behind due to lack of space, resources and there are more inside which I haven´t seen. The massive abandonement has started and I can only do what myn limits permit me to do. Not enough money and not enough space. So so sad! That is why today is, on one side, a hapy day because I have been able to save 4, and on the other a very sad one because I had to leave many behind who need help aswell......

Pude sacar a estos dos machos preciosos hace una semana. El obscuro es Kim y no tiene problemas con nada ni con nadie. El claro es Sky y tiene un miedo terrible a las peronas. Ambos estan muy flacos, como siempre cuando salen de la perrera pero ya van cojiendo peso.

I was able to take those two beautifull males out of the killing station. The dark one is Kim and he has no problem at all. The light one is Sky and he is terrified of people. Both are very thin, as always when they come out but you can see that they are gaining weight.

mas acojidas/more foster homes

De la perrera al refugio y de alli a una casa de acogida! Y esto solo en tiempo de unas semanas! Desde luego este amor se lo merecia (como otros tantos) porque tiene 8 años y se nota que no ha hecho mas que parir. Pero gracias a una voluntaria su calvaria ya termino! En el refugio se ponia al sol y cuando empezaba a hacer mas frio se metia en la caseta y se tumbaba encima de las mantas que habia alli. A Carol le dio mucha pena y a pesar de estar en el paro y tener 2 golden se la llevo a su casa en acogida. Que maravilla. La madre de Carol es la que tiene a Diana. Suponemos que Diana es hija de Mari. Son muy parecidas y llegaron juntas a la perrera y se parecen mucho. Lydia, la madre, y Carol, sacan a sus 6 perros juntos y cuando Mari y Diana se vieron se pusieron muy contentas. Quien sabe?

From the killing station to my shelter and from there to a foster home! And this has happened only in a few weeks! This sweety deserved it very much (and so others of course) because she is 8 years and you can see that she has been breeding for her whole life. But thanks to a volunteer her nightmare has now finished. At the shelter Mari was always laying in the sun and when it was colder she layed on the blankets I have in the cabinet. Carol, the girl who has fostered her, felt very sorry for her and decided to take her in foster despite of having two Golden Retrievers and no job. Admirable. Carol´s mother is fostering Diana, the pup, and we think that she is Mari´s pup because they came into the killing pound at the same time and they look very much alike. Lydia, the mother, and Carol walk their 6 dogs toghether and when Mari saw Diana it seemed that they recognised eachother. Who knows?

Arena y Nube viajaron a una familia de acojida en Belgica el dia 13 de Noviembre. Arena es la que pude salvar del moquillo. Teniamos un vinculo muy especial porque me pase muchas horas con ella en el veterinario y estuvo a punto de fallecer pero gracias al equipo veterinario se pudo salvar. Y fijaros, ya esta en Belgica para disfrutar de una vida feliz. Eso si que da satisfaccion! Me costo mucho despedirme de ellas, Nube es una galga fantastica! pero bueno, gracias a esto puedo salvar a mas y de eso se trata. Ya me llegaron noticias de ellas diciendo que habian llegado bien y que estaban estupendamente. Gracias a la orgaizacion Greyhounds Rescue Belgium por hacer etso posible!
Siempre se va un trocito de corazon cuando te despides de estos amores que has recuperado y cuidado con mucho mimo. Menos mal que ellos se olvidaran pronto y se adpataran enseguida a la maravillosa vida que les espera ahora. Yo si me acordare de ellos toda la vida!

Arena and Nube travelled to their foster homes on 13 November in Belgium. Arena is the one I was able to save from destemper. We had a very special cennection because we spend many hours toghether at the vets. She was at a point that we thought she would die, but this little beauty is a fighter and, tahnks to the good indications of the vet, she survived. And look, now she is living happily in a home with loving people. Tho see that gives you will to struggle further to save other lives. It was really hard for me to say goodbye to both (Nube is a sweety aswell) but that is how it must be. Now I can save more. I have already received news about them and they are adapting well. Thanks to Greyhounds Rescue Belgium to make this possible.
There always goes a little piece of your hart with them when you say goodbye but they will forget soon and they will quickly adapt to the wonderfull life from now on with lots of care and love. Fortunately they will forget soon. I yes will always remember them and miss them.

Look at Adan! It was so hard to sya goodbye to him but look how quickly he has adapted in his new home! It is always like that, fortunately. Who would not adapt to a life like this??? They take him for a 1 1/2 walk and 1/2 with the bicicle and he just loves it. So much happiness!

He estado 1a semana sin ordenador y todovia no funciona como debe. Te sientes totalmente desconectada del mundo! A esta perrita la di por eutaniasada porque tenia el virus del moquillo. Cuando fui a recojer la madre unas 3 semanas despues de que dio positiva Diana (la cachorita) en moquillo me dijo la veterinaria de la perrera que alli tenia todavia tenia la a Diana porque no la veia tan mal como para sacrificarla.....Que alegria me dio!!! Pedi que la vacunara y decidimos dejarla unos dias mas alli para ver su reaccion a la vacuna. 4 dias despues de la vacuna parecia que seguia bien asi que la saque. No la podia meter en el refugio porque acababa de acogera a una cachorrita de podenco y llevaba solo 5 dias con su vacuna y podria contagiarla. la suerte que tuve fue que una nueva voluntaria me ofrecio una acogida para Diana! Tiene tos y estornudo de vez en cuando.....Esperemos que todo vaya bien! Que preocupacion! Es una preciosidad, igual que la madre.

I have been 1 week without internet and that is terrible because you are totally disconected. I thought that this little sweet galgo puppy had been eutanised because I did the destemper tests and she was positive, poor baby. When I, after 3 weeks of the test, went to pick up her mother, the vet said that she was still there and that she looked fine. Had a bit of cough but she looked happy and was been treated. So I said.Great! We vaccinated her and waited for 4 more days to see the reaction. She was still fine so I decided to take her out but I couldn´t bring her into the kennel because I had just taken on a Podenco puppy which had just been vaccinated so the risk of contamination was high. Fortunately a new volunteer said that she would take the galgo puppy, Diana, in foster. She is doing fine although she coughs a little and sneezes....I so much hope that she will get well! Poor little baby.

Casper adoptado/Casper adopted

Aqui tenemos a Casper con un antes y despues! Me lo trajo un matrimonio fantastico de Estepona donde lo encontraron abandonado, lleno de garrapatas. Estuvo unos meses en el refugio pero no era feliz. Necesitaba mucho cariño y alli solo tenemos tempo de darselo a ratitos, lloraba bastante, asi que a la primera oportunidad y gracias al buen trabajo de GRH se lo llevaron en acogida a Holanda. Estuvo unos meses en su casa de acogida y ya esta adoptado. No podia ser de otra menera porque Casper es un perro muy dulce y cariñoso, nada dominante. La familia de adopcion esta encantado con el! Les sigue a todas partes, incluido al cuarto de baño. Los que tenemos galgos ya sabemos lo que es eso. Hay dias malas en esto de rescatar animales, sobre todo en esta epoca porque hay tantos abandonados y en las perreras que no das a basto, pero cuando ves esto sabes porque lo haces! Por desgracia no se pueden salvar a todos y eso te quita el sueño, pero el hecho de que puedes salvara a algunos te hace feliz!

Here we have Casper with a "before" and "after". He was brought to my shelter by a fantastic couple from Estepona. They found him, lost, on the street. He was full of ticks. He stayed for some months at the shelter and at the first oportunity of a foster family, thanks to GRH, he left to Holland as he was not happy at the shelter. Always asking for love and crying when we left him again in his kennel. There is, unfortunately, no time enough to dedicate to all of them, only little wiles. He stayed with his foster family for some months and now he has been adopted. Couldn´t be in another way because Casper is very lovely and not dominant at all. He only wants to receive love and that is what he is going to receive from now for ever. He follows his new mum everywhere, even to the bathroom, but we, as galgo owner and lovers, know what that is!! There are bad days in this task of rescueing galgos because, specailly now, there are so many galgos abandoned everywhere and you know that you cannot save them all, which gives you sleepless nights, but the fact that you can save ar least some, makes you feel happy.

Una peticion de ayuda: Dos galgos en deplorable estado encontrados en Cartama, un pueblo cerca de Malaga. El dueño no los quiere asi que no les da de comer, para que? Palabras suyas: Demasiado que los aguanto aqui....Sin comentarios. Menos mal que una chica los vio y se los pidio pero donde meterlos? Yo recibi la peticion de ayuda por correo electronico y tengo sitio ahora mismo, estan al lado de donde tengo el refugio, asi que dije: adelante y vendran mañana. Estaban llenos de bichos los pobres. Habra que hacer analiticas a ver como estan. Esperemos que bien. Ahora a engordarlos y encontrarles una buena adopcion.

An shout for help: Two galgos in a terrible state were found in Cartama, a village near Malaga. Their owner didn´t want them so why give them to eat??? His own words: They should be greatfull that they are still here.......No comments. Fortunately a girl saw them and send emails around asking for help. I have space, they have been found nearby so I said. I will take them. They will be brought to my kennel tomorrow morning. They were full of ticks and flees. Adan en Holanda y Addy en acogida/Adan in Holland and Addy at home as foster

Esta semana ha sido de muchas emociones de nuevo. El lunes saque a mari de la perrera, el martes se nos fue nuestro querido Adan (el blanco) que ha estado en el refugio conmigo desde Marzo hasta Junio, luego de acogida en casa y ahora, ya adoptado, en Holanda. Como siempre es muy emocionante despedirte de un perro del que has cuidado. Estaba muy tenso, el pobre y le tuve que dar unas pastillas. Esto le ayudo para pasar el maltrago del viaje y de un nuevo cambio en su vida. Pero....ya vais las fotos en su nueva casa. El adoptante esta enamorado de el. Es que Adan no era para menos. Espectacular y buenismo. Y le va a ir muy bien aunque siempre le echare de menos.
Tuvo que ser asi, creo, porque el lunes me comunico la acogida de Addy (la negra) que ya no la podia tener. A Addy la saque en Marzo tambien y estuvo en el refugio. En Junio se fue a una casa de acogida y la querrian traer de vuelta al refugio...Addy es una perro totalmente traumatizada y no ha mejorado nada en su casa de acogida y me consta que ha sido muy bien tratada. Entiendo tambien que es muy frustrante cuando ves que, a pesar de que tu haces de todo para que salga de su circulo vicioso, no mejora. Pero como he dicho: tuvo que ser porque enseguida decidimos mi marido y yo que la acojariamos. Habia pensado en traerme a otra del refugio, Selva, pero Selva esta adaptada y feliz en el refugio y no podia dejar que Addy volviera alli despues de haber vivido en una casa. Asi que aqui la tenemos, a penas se mueve de su cama aunque le "fuerzo" venirse donde estamos nosotros. No ha comido a penas desde que llego el miercoles pero bueno, ya comera. Es un montoncito de pena. Ya tuve a Chica hace un año y medio que era parecida. Ella ya esta felizmente adoptada en Holanda. Para Addy se va a necesitar una familia muy especial porque se hara a ellos pero nunca estar bien con extraños. Ay, que no le habran hecho a este pobre animalito.

It has been a very emotional week. On monday I took a galgo out of the killingstation and on tuesday my beloved Adan (white) left to his adoption family in Holland. How difficult this is once and again. He was very stressed so I gave him some tranquilizers and that helped. The photos in his new home show how well he has adapted. His owner is totally in love with him. Of course, he is a spectacular dog and very very sweet. Ay, I miss him but it was like it had to be because I was advised by a lady who had Addy (black) in foster saying that she couldnot have here anymore. Addy is a very very traumatised galga. I took her from the killingpound in March, she stayed in the shelter where she was always hiding in the kennel, very very afraid In JUne she went to her foster family. So when the lady told me I said that I would take her because it would have been terrible for Addy to go back to the kennel once she had lived in a home. So here she is, laying in het bed the whole time, not eating much and very afraid. I hope Addy will come out of her vicious circle one day but she will need a very special family who understands that she will always be afraid of strange people. What have they done to this poor soul??

Mi querido Sam/My beloved Sam

Este guapisimo cruce de galgo estaba en el refugio desde Junio, sacado de la perrera. Era uno de estos pobres perros que, por ser cruce, tenia dificil adopcion. Que culpa tendria el? Dificil de "vender" en fotos porque las fotos de los perros negros no les suelen hacer justicia. Sam es un perro increiblemente cariñoso y muy alegre. Adora a las personas. Cuando las ve se pone a dos patas para recibir besos y caricias. Tiene caracter como buen macho grande que es y se notaba su presencia en el refugio. Digo"se notaba" porque Sam ha encontrado su alma jemela en uno de los voluntarios! Fue un flechazo entre ambos. Y que cambio ha dado! Vive en un piso pero su nuevo dueño lo saca mucho y lo deja correr en los parques vallados para perros que por fin hay en Malaga, gracias a la insitencia de las animalistas. Como le echo de menos! Hoy lo he visto en un evento organizado por el colegio de veterinarios y el ayuntamiento, contra el abandono, maltrato y demas barbaridades y cuando nos hemos visto nos hemos puesto muy contentos! Yo emocionada de verlo alli, tranquilo entre mucha gente y muchos perro. El voluntario lo llevo el otro dia al refugio y no querria entrar! Que listo! Le pregunte al adoptante como se portaba en casa y me dijo: Bien! Bueno, ha rota cojines, tiro un plato que habia en la encimera de la cocina etc. Eso es ser animalista! Entender que un animal "salvaje" necesita su tiempo de adaptacion. No puedo expresar la felicidad que siento saber que este precioso animal va a vivir una vida feliz para siempre! Te quiero mucho Sam y se que estas en muy buenas manos!!!!

This beautifull galgo mix was in my shelter since June. I saved him from the death row. He was one of those poor dogs difficult to adopt because he is a mix. Was not his fault! Difficult to "sell" because photos of black dogs donot make justice to them. Sam is a marvelous dog, very alive and sweet. He loves people and stands on two legs to kiss them and receive love. He has a caracter and his presence was noticed whilst he was at the shelter. Yes, I say "was" because Sam has found his twin soul in one of the volunteers. It was love at first site from both parts. And how has he changed! He lives in a flat but his owner takes him out very often for long walks and runs in the specially fenced dog park in Malaga. I miss him very much! I saw him today in an event, organised by the veterinary university and the townhall. The event was agaist mistreatment and abandonement and other horrors people do to animals in general. When we saw each other we were sooooo happy! I was totally emocioned. He behaved perfectly amongst the crowd of people and dogs. The volunteer who has adopted him took him the other day to the shelter and he didn´t want to go in....Suppose just in case he would have been left there again. Clever boy! I asked his owner how he was behaving and he said: Fine! Well he has torn various cushions and a dish which was in the kitchen etc....That is a person who really cares because he understand that a "sauvage" animal needs his time. I donot know how to express how happy I am knowing that Sam will now have a great life forever! I love you Sam and I know that you are in good hands!

manifestacion 8 oct contra la caza y maltrato de galgos/protest against hunting and mistreatment of galgos

Ayer la asociacion Malaga Perruno organizo una manifestacion contra la caza y contra el abandono y maltrato de galgos ya que hoy ha empezado la temporada de caza y miles de estos pobres animales seran abandonadas en perreras, mutilados, ahorcados, tirados en pozos y demas barbaries . Hubo mucha gente y estuvo todo muy bien organizado. No conte los galgos que habia pero por lo menos unos 30. De ellos 8 de mi refugio!! Dos de ellas estan en la primera foto, Arena y Mowgli. Los pobres estaban muy nerviosos. Mowgli, como buen cachorro que es, no paraba quita, iba de un lado a otro tirando de la correa. Arena no hacia mas que darle bocados a los perros que se le acercaban! Volvieron agotados (y nosotros!) y encantados de verse otra vez en su jaula del refugio. Pobres! Con que poco se contentan!

The asociation Malaga Perruno organised a protest walk yesterday in the centre of Malaga against hunting and mistreatment in general and of galgos specially as the hunting season has started today. Many of them will be dropped at the killingstations, mistreated, hung, dropped in wells and other horrors. It was a succes! I didn´t count the amount of galgos present but at least 30. Plus other kind of dogs. 8 of the galgos were from my kennel!! To of them on the first photo, Arena and Mowgli. Poor souls, they were so nervous. Mowgli didn´t stop walking across pulling her leash and Arena bit every dog who came near her! They came back exhausted (and so did we!!) and were so so happy to be back in their kennels again. Poor sweeties. They are happy with very little!

Mis nuevas preciosidades/My new beauties

Estas si han tenido la suerte de poder salir adelante. Cira, la blanca con manchas atigradas entro a la vez que Rocio, la que se murio. Ella si tuvo la suerte de sobrevivir. Quisaz su galguero se gasto un poco de dinero en ella aunque a pesar de esto la abandono en la perrera a los 6 años de haberla explotado....Es una maravilla. Muy muy cariñosa y esta feliz y agradecida por recibir caricias, comida. Cuando llegas da saltos de alegria, es tranquila y buenisima. un amor. La negrita es un cachorro. Su pasaporte dice que nacio en augosto del 2010 pero a mi me parece bastante mas joven. Como unos 7 o 8 meses. A saber...A ella la dejaron con pasporte incluido en la perrera porque el dueño se tenia que operar y no podia cuidar de ella. Alucino.....Por lo menos lleva todas las vacunas en regla. Algo es algo.
La semana pasado estuvieron aqui personas (maravillosas) de GreyhoundsRescueBelgium y se las han reservado asi que estas ya tienen su futuro feliz asegurado!
El cachorro lo hemos llamda Mowgly y a la otra Cira. Dos amores.

Those have been lucky. The white one with the brindle spots came in at the same time as Rocio. She has been lucky and survived. Maybe her galguero did vaccinate her but nevertheless abandonned her at the age of 6 after having used her. She is a love. Very very sweet and asking for caresses all the time. She loves the food and when you arrive she jumps of joy, she is quiet and really great. The black one is a puppy. Her passport says that she was born in august 2010 but I feel she is younger. About 7 or 8 months. Who knows.....Her owner left her because he had to undergo an surgery and coulnot look after her...Incredible. At least she has all her vaccinations.
I received a visit from the wonderfull people of GreyhoundsRescueBelgium last week and they have reserved the two. So they will soon find a lovely home in Belgium.
We have named the puppy "Mowgly" and the other one "Cira". Two sweeties.

Estos dos no tuvieron la suerte de los demas. Por culpa de sus galgueron que nunca los vacunaron se contagiaron de moquillo en la perrera. Es una imagen que nunca olvidare. Como veis en las primeras fotos de Rocio, asi la llame cuando le saque sangre para hacerle las pruebas, estaba fuerte y guapisima aunque algo delgada. Cuando volvi a verla una semana despues, ya sabiendo que tenia el virus mortal del moquillo, era un pobre esqueleto. Se me saltan las lagrimas cada vez que me acuerdo. Para su galguero no valio ni los 7€ que vale la vacuna. Nunca hubiera cogido el virus si la hubiera vacunado como dios manda. No sobrevivio, claro. Un animal joven de 4 años, precioso tratado por su galguero como una basura. Igual le paso al cachorro de 7 meses, preciosa, de ojos claros. Ya se le ve en las fotos las legañas y efectivamente, murio de moquillo. Que podemos hacer para que este sacrificio gratuito termine???

Thos two were not as lucky as the ones I could save. Their galguero didn´t even spend a penny in vaccinating them so they were infected by the destemper virus at the killingstation. I will never forget the images. When yiu watch the first photos of Rocio, that is how I called her when I did the test, you see a strong beautifull dog, although thin. When I returned the week after, already knowing that she was infected with destemper, her image was just terrifying. A totally different dog. Sad eyes and exhausted. I ill never forget her image and I get tears in my eyes every time I think of her. For her galguero she wasn´r even worth the 7€ which costs the vaccin. She would have been alive now if he had spend that little money on her. She dies, of course. The same happened to the baby of 7 month, the one with they green eyes, a beauty. She also died of destemper. What can we do to stop this?

Bueno, ya se me arreglo el ordenador pero el ponerme al dia me ha costado dias. Hoy ha sido un dia muy emocionante. Se han ido 4 de mis queridos galgos a Belgica. La de pelo duro clarita llevaba conmigo desde Febrero! Los dos negros desde Mayo y el atigrado desde Junio. Nos costo mutuamente despedirnos los unos de los otros! Que bien se han portado aunque no quisieron meterse en los transportines, los pobres. Si!!! Se que es fantastico que se hayan ido para vivir una vida feliz por fin. Pero como me cuesta despedirme de ellos. Te miran con esa cara de confianza y amor, fiandose de ti y ahora esto. Y no entienden nada! Pero bueno, hay que pensar que dentro de poco ya ni se acordaran de mi cuando esten tumbados en sus camas o sofas, mimados y paseando todos los dias, recibiendo el amor 24 horas de sus nuevos dueños. Os echo de menos amores pero que bien que os he podido salvar de una muerte segura! Disfrutad de una vida merecida! Siempre os tendre en mi corazon.

At long last my computor is working again but it has taken me days to update all emails etc. Today was a very emotional day because four of my beloved galgos travelled to Belgium. The cream one had been with me since febuary! The two black ones since May and the brindel one since June. Both the dogs and me had a hard time saying goodbye to eachother! They behaved perfectly although they didn´t want to o into the benches, por things. Yeah!!! I know it is fantastic that they left for a much better life. But it is so hard to let them go. They look at you with trust (finally) and now this.... And they just donot understand it! But ok, I have to think that in a few days or weeks they will not remember me when they are laying on their beds or the sofa, enjoying walks, being loved during 24 hours by their new owners. And that is how it should be. I miss you darlings but it feels great to know that I have saved you from a certain dead! Enjoy a deserved life! I will always have you in my heart.

No hay fotos hoy pero si mucho que contar. Estoy incomunicada porque tengo un virus en mi cuenta de hotmail desde el sabado. llevan trabajando en el problema desde el lunes pero parece ser que esta siendo complicado. Espero no perder toda la informacion que tengo alli, las fotos etc. Tambien se me ha estropeado el movil nuevo que compre y se me han vuelto a perder muchos telefonos. Se ve que me toca la epoca de que todo se rompe. Son rachas, no se porque. Se me ha roto el lavavajillas, el grifo de la cocina, la depuradora de la piscina, el aparato de antical, se quedo mi furgoneta ayer sin bateria.....Que desesperacion! Maria Luisa, de nuevo pido que me llames......ya que he vuelto a perder tu telefono. Volvere a usar la agenda de toda la vida porque esto es horrible!
India (la de las fotos de abajo) tiene leishmania! Asi que tengo que hacer analitica de higado y riñon y empezar a tratarla. Por lo menos hoy en dia tiene un tratamiento bueno. Tambien hay una en la perrera que tiene leishmania. Me la quiero traer una vez haya hecho efecto la trivalente ya que sigo teniendo el virus del moquillo en mi refugio y no me quiero arriesgar.
Saque 3 a principìos de semana. Una viajo ayer a Murcia, Galgos del Sol, donde se quedara en pension hasta poder viajra a su familia de adopcion en Inglaterra en enero 2012.
No pongo fotos porque este ordenador es nuevo y le tengo que instalar un monton de programmas.....de momento guarda las fotos pero no las puedo abrir....ya he dicho que la informatica no es lo mio!!
Tengo que llevar a 4 perros al veterinario pero no tengo la furgoneta. Estan por aqui la presidente de GreyhoundsRescueBelgium. Mañana vendran al refugio y comeran en casa. En fin, como siempre: sin parar! Afortunadamente tengo ahora bastante ayuda! Ayer tarde y hoy libre de refugio aunque liada con las demas cosas que conlleva esto de rescatar animales.
Espero poder poner fotos de los nuevos pronto. Son, como todos, preciosos y se estan adaptando muy bien.

No photos this time because I have a new computor but still have to put many programms in. I can save the photos but cannot open them.....I have a virus in my email account and my telephone is not working again....lost many numbers. Those things never come alone....my dishwasher broke down yesterday, my van, the tap of the kitchen and some other stuff! I hop I will be fully accurate very soon. This is really frustrating.
Many things to tell. On monday I took out 3 galgos from the killingstation, one travelled yesterday to Murcia, Galgos del Sol. She will stay in a pension and travell to her adoption family in January 2012.
The other two are at the kennel and adapting well.
India, the one of the photos below has leishmania and so has one who is still at the killingstation. Will take her out as soon as her vaccination have made effect. So lots of treatments starting......
Have to take 5 dogs to the vet but have no van till monday....Fortunately I do have volunteers now although some have gone necause of jobs and courses. I had yesterday afternoon and today whole day off!!! Dedicating to organise the many work which goes with rescue! I have a hughe pile of papers, passports and tests on the kitchen table.....
The president of GreyhoundsRescueBelgium is around and will visit the shelter tomorrow and will have lunch at home afterwards.
I hope to be able to show photos of the new ones, they are beautifull and lovely like all!!!

Me llego un aviso de una chica diciendo que habia una galga abandonada desde hacia 8 meses(!) por zu zona. Habia parido y la perrera le habia quitado sus cachorros. A ella, menos mal, no la pudieron coger! La chica le daba de comer (y muy bien porque mira que gordita esta!) pero no la podia cojer y no sabia ya que hacer para salvarla. Hable con mis maravillosas amigas de AMP (asociacion malaga perruna) y han estado yiendo desde el lunes dia 5 de Septiembre todas las tardes con salchichas etc para ver si la cojian. No hubo forma. Se acercaba pero no se dejaba cojer. Contactaron a la protectora de Malaga para ver si tenian un lazo y si! Asi que alli se fueron de nuevo el lunes pasado con el lazero y HURRAHHHH, lo consiguieron. Me llamaron a las 19.30 (estaba en el refugio) y me la trajeron. Nos fuimos todas a mi veterinario para sacrle sangre para hacer los tests y vacunarla. Extrañamente solo tenia una garrapata, estaba gordita pero asustada logicamente. Pasamo el lector de chip y para nuestra sorpresa tiene chip. Resumiendo: Llamamos al veterinario que le habia puesto el chip y resulta ser uno que habia trabajadoen la perrera de mi pueblo. Asi que suponemos que alli la dejo un galguero y luego fue adoptada por alguien. Esto hacce como un año o asi. Se ha llamado al nuevo propietario varias veces pero no da señales de vida. esperemos que no las de porque no queremos devolverselo. Si ha estado 8 meses abandonada, ha tenido crias etc no se merece tenerla. Supongo que se le escapo (son muy escapistas) o que, al ver que estaba embarazada, la largo. No hay aviso en su resgitro de chip que haya sido dado de alta como perdida asi que no se merece tenerla.

Bueno, y esta a salvo en mi refugio! Para poder ponerla a mi nombre tengo que ir a la policia y poner una denuncia. Ellos se encargaran de encontrar al dueño. Si no han dado con el despues de 15 dias, ya la puedo pasar a mi nombre. Ojala! Asi le puedo buscar un hogar de verdad, de estas que os enseño en las fotos!

I received a notice of a girl saying that she had been feeding a lost galga during 8 months. This galga had puppies who were taken away by the killingpound. They could not catch the mother. Fortunately!!! The girl was desperate because she did not know what to do. My dear friends of AMP (malaga perruna) started going there last monday 5 september with sausages etc, trying to catch her, but no way. So they contacted the animal protection of Malaga and asked if they could help with a special leash to catch her. Past monday the men went there with them and the leash and it worked!!! I was called at 7.30 p.m. (I was at the kennel) and told that they had her! They brought her to me and we went straight to the vet to take blood for tests and vacinate her. But...she has a chip and an owners name. The owner was called but no answer. The vet who had put the chip was called and he said that probably that chip was applied by him when he worked in the killingpound of my village..Resuming: We think that she was dropped there by her galguero and then adopted by someone. This was about a year ago. She must have escaped (they are escapists!) or her new owner, once he saw she was pregnant abandonned her...We will never know I suppose. The procedure now is to go to the police and put a claim. They will try and contact the owner. If not possible I can then put the chip on my name after 15 days. I hope they will not find him because I think he is not worth having her. There was no notice in her chip record that she had been lost. Nothing. So he did not worry too much. She deserves a great home with the people I find for them!

Let´s see what happens. Cross fingers!

Que horror! Sigue ocurriendo. Y el gobierno cierra los ojos y dice que esto ya en la España moderna no ocurre. Como puede ser? En una zona de campo de Sevilla encontraron a este pobre pobre galgo. menos mal que se cruzaron buena gente por su camino. Si no, que hubiera sido de el?

Estas fotos vienen de la pagina de www.greyhoundsrescue.nl . Ellos, menos mal, se van a hacer cargo de todos los gastos y una vez curado (porque se currara!!!!) le encontraran una familia adoptiva. Seguro! Este tuvo la suerte de ser encontrado por buenas personas pero muchas veces pienso que por alli habra mas como el que no tengan esta suerte y que sufriran una muerte lenta y terrible. Cuando cambiara la mentalidad en España?????

Horror! It still happens! And the governement closes their eyes saying that this doesn´t happen anymore in Spain nowadays! How can this be? This "lucky" guy was found in a rural area of Seville. Lucky enough he was found by people who care! If not, what would have happened to him? Those photos have been copied from the page www.greyhoundsrescue.nl. Lucky enough they will take care of all expenses needed to heal this poor poor soul. Once healed (because he will heal!!!) they will find a family for him to love him forever. Sure! He has had the luck to have been found but it gives me sleepless nights thinking that others will never been found and die slowely a terrible death. When will the Spanish mentality change????

Os acordais de Souki? La que saque de la perrera el mes pasado y pude enviar a Argos de Sevilla. Mira como esta! Estas fotos son en la pension donde esta pero la semana que viene viajara a su familia para siempre en Holanda! Es preciosa! Gracias Argos y suerte Souki. Para ti la vida ya cambio cuando te saque pero ahora no veas como vas a disfrutar!

Remember Souki? I saved her from the killingstation last month and she was fostered by Argos in Seville. Look at her! So happy. Those photos have been taken in the doghotel in Seville where she has been staying since I took her out. The good news is that she has been adopted in Holland! She will travell next week. Thanks Argos and good luck Souki. Your life changed from the moment I took you out but now you will really enjoy a good life!

Nuevas galgas que han entrado en la perrera. Ya tengo solucion para la atigrada, se la queda Galgos del Sol para adopcion en Inglaterra. Que bien!! Ahora me falta encontrarle sitio para las otras dos. Ambas seran preciosas una vez recuperadas. La blanca con manchas atigradas esta muy asustada, la pobre, aunque despues de acariciarla y hablarle se tranquilizo un poco. Que ganas tengo de poder sacarlas de alli. La canela es mas espabilada y confiada. Son grandes para ser hembras. A ver si sigo con esta racho de suerte y tambien les encuentro un hogar! Les quedan 8 dias para su fecha de sacrificio segun ley. Una preocupacion terrible! Y todavia no ha empezado la temporada de caza.....A ver cuantos me encontrare alli entonces....

New galgas who have arrived at the killingpound. The brindle one has already a solution. She will be adopted in the UK, thanks to Galgos del Sol, Murcia. Great!!! Now I need to find a solution for the other two. They will be both beautifull once recovered. The white one with brindle spots is very frightened although after caressing her and talking to her she relaxed a little. I want to take them out as soon as possible. The clear one is more confident and alert. They are quite big for being females. let´s see if I continue to be lucky and find solutions for them aswell. 8 days are left for their allowed date of putting them to sleep as per law! A really terrible feeling! And the hunting season has not started yet......Let´s see how much I will find then abandooned in the killingpound!

muchas actividades/Many happenings

No encuentro un momento para escribir....Ya ni me acuerdo de todo lo que ha pasado en los ultimos dias. Ya comente que Casper se fue a Holanda en acojida. Fijaros lo bien que esta! (primera foto). Tuvimos una comida en casa con la familia Holandesa que ya ha adoptado 2 de mis galgas de acogida, Quia y Dama. Estan aqui de vacaciones y les recoji en el hotel para enseñarles el refugio, la perrera y nuestra casa donde habian pasado varios meses su galgas. Me regalaron un libro de fotos de las dos, precioso y muy emocionante! Tambien tuvimos una barbacoa con las maravillosas mujeres de Malaga Perruno (AMP). Son las que me ayudan muchisimo en el refugio y en todo. GRACIAS chicas!!!! El dia siguiente a la perrera a sacar a las 3 galgas que estaban alli. Cloe es la que ha estado mas tiempo porque cuando me encontraron una casa de acogida (gracias Yoya!!) en Madrid empezo con el celo asi que decidi esperar las 3 semanas para enviarla. La tuvimos en casa parte del dia hasta que a recojio el transporte (muy bien por cierto!) y es muy muy dulce y buena. El chip dice que tienen 2 años pero se le ve mayor, por lo menos 5 o 6 tendra. Ya me ha escrito la familia de acojida y esta muy bien. Un poco asustada como todos pero seguro que ni se cre lo que le esta pasando. Toda la vida viviendo en cuchitrines y ahora en una casa donde la tratan con cariño y respeto! Las otras dos que saque estan en otra casa de acojida cerca. Que suerte! Logicamente cuando fui a recojer a estas tres me dijeron que habia entrado otra, como siempre. Bueno, pues a seguir buscando soluciones. Tengo que ir a sacarle fotos, sacarle sangre para analiticas y vacunarla....A ver si encuentro un hueco....cuanto antes pueda salir mejor.

Mañana me llegan dos galgas de un refugio de Sevilla. Las alojare en el refugio para llevarlas al aeropuerto el viernes y domingo respectivamente. Adoptadas en Alemania. Enfin, como siempre, sin parar.

I just donot find a moment to write. I donot even remeber all what happened in the last days.. I already said that Casper went to a foster home in Holland. Look at him!(first photo). We had a lunch at home with a Dutch family who is here on holidays. They have adopted two of my foster galgas, Quia and Dama. I picked them up at the hotel and showed them the kennel, the killingstation and our home where their adopted dogs have been living for some months. They gave me a photobook with lots of photos of the galgas at their home. Very emotional. We also had a barbecue with the Malaga ladies of Malaga perruno (AMP)who help me very much with the kennel. THANKS girls!!!

The next day my husband and I went to pick up the 3 galgas at the killing pound. Cloe had been there for long as when I found a foster family thanks to Yoya she started with her heat so I decided to wait to send her for the 3 weeks this lasts. She spend part of the day at our home till the transport company (a very good one!) collected her. A real sweety! Her foster family has already written to me saying that she is doing well. A bit afraid and shy but fine. She must be thinking that she cannot believe what is happening to her now: Living in terrible conditions and then in a home environement where they love her and respect her. When I went to pick them up I was told that, of course, there was a new galga....Have to find time to go and take photos, bloodsample for the tests and vaccinate...The sooner she gets out the better.

Tomorrow 2 galgas will arrive from a shlter of Seville (FBM). I have to take them to the airport respectively on friday morning and sunday afternoon. Adopted in germany. Well, as usual, non stop.

Este video lo ha hecho la adoptante de Kenia en mi honor entre otros. Que emocionante!
La cancion esta en Holandes y es increiblemente aplicable a Kenia y todos los animales rescatados de su sufrimiento. Dice mas o menos esto:

The song is in Dutch and it is very applicable to Kenia and all the other animals rescued from their suffering. It says more or less:

Freedom (Nikan ahora) fue nuestro primer galgo de acojida. Llega en septiembre 2009 y se fue adoptado a Holanda por Navidades del mismo año. Lo salvo la asociacion Ddevida de Sevilla. Sigo teniendo noticias de su familia que adopto a una galga hace unos meses tambien. Y mira que bien estan! Hasta con los 3 gatos de la familia se lleva bien! Estas son las cosas que hacen que quiero seguir luchando por estos animales!

Freedom was our first foster galgo. He arrived in September 2009 and was adopted and travelled to Holland at Christmas of the same year. He was rescued by Ddevida in Seville. I continue to have news about him and they adopted a galga some months ago also. And look at how happy they are! Those are the things that make me want to continue the fight of saving those beautifull animals.

Casper, que fue encontrado abandonado y con 1000 garrapatas por todo su cuerpo en un pueblo de Malaga tuvo la suerte de cruzarse en su camino por unos amigos, adoptantes de Abi. Lo llevaron al veterinario y no llevaba chip. Me llamaron y les dije de traermelo. Ya escribi sobre esto mas abajo. Nunca se llego a acostumbrar bien a estar encerrado en una jaula y le costo a integrarse al grupo de los demas cuando estaban sueltos. Cuando me iba lloraba y cuando llegaba tambien. Hace unos 3 semanas ya se le veia mas feliz y jugando con los demas. Pero cuando se presento una oportunidad de acojida en Holanda pense enseguida en el. Ya lo habia castrado (primeras 2 fotos) asi que estaba listo para viajar. Y hoy fue su dia feliz. Se ha portado de maravilla. Tranquilo, cariñoso, ....Todo el mundo lo miraba. Es un perro muy guapo y con mucho estilo.

Seguro que pronto encontrara su casa para siempre! Ya le echo de menos pero bueno, alli estara mejor! Otro con suerte.

Casper who was found in a village near Malaga with around thousands of ticks had the great luck to cross his way with friends of mine, adoptants of Abi. They took him to the vet and he didn´t have a chip. They called me and I said to bring him to my shelter. I have written about this some time ago. He never got really used to being in a shelter. He cried when I left and when I arrived and it took him time to integrate in the group when they were all free. About 3 weeks ago he started to be happy and play with the others. But when the oportunity arose of a foster family in Holland I thought he should be the one. I had neutered him already (first 2 fotos)so he was ready to go. Today it was his happy day. He behaved incredibly well. Relaxed, sweet....Everybody looked at him. He is very handsome and is very elegant.

I am sure that he will find his forever home soon. I already miss him but ok, he will be much better off there. Another one with luck!

Os acordais de Amor? Una de las galguitas negras que estaban en la perrera? Sos galgos le encontro una casa de acogida y la mande alli la semana pasada. Su mama de acogida no pudo disfrutar mucho de ella porque......ya esta adoptada! Normal porque es un dulce de perrita y muy muy guapa.

Suerte Amor! A ti si te ha cambiado la vida y me alegro no sabes cuanto!!!

You remember Amor? One of the black galgas who were on deathrow? SOS galgos found a fosterhome for Amor and I send her there last week. Well, her foster mum has not been able to enjoy her for long because she has been adopted!!! Understandable because she is a lovely beauty. Good luck Amor! Un homenaje a una persona especial/ A credit for a very special person

Algo diferente! Hay una señora Belga que tiene un refugio en la costa de Malaga. Ella es increible y incansable. Lleva 20 años a la cabeza de un refugio y saca muchisimos animales al extranjero. En plan serio: Contratos, vistas de casa etc. Ella me pide que saque todos los perros de agua, boxers y variedad de perros pequeños porque tiene una muy buena red para adopciones para este tipo de perros. El otro dia la llame para decirle si podia sacar a un perro de agua que habia llegado a la perrera. Me dijo que si y cuando fui a preparar el pasporte del perro habian entrado 2 mas. La llame y me dijo tambien que si, adelante. Normalmente se las llevo a un punto intermedio pero ese dia no podia y le pedi que los recojiera ella aunque yo se lo dejaba todo organizado. Era solo ir a recojerlos. Cuando me llamo por la tarde me emocione porque no solo habia sacado a los 3 perros de agua. Saco a 10 ma! Todos viejitos y desemparados. Los que no suelen encontrar adopcion. Impresionante! Enhorabuena Fabienne por lo que haces! GRACIAS!!

Something different. There is a Belgium lady who has a shelter at the coast of Malaga. She is incredible and tireless. She runs her kennel since 20 years and has saved many many animals. Good contacts abroad where she send the dogs. Serious as she does home visits and contracts etc. She has asked me if I can rescue all "perros de agua" as she has very good contacts in Germany for rehoming them. Also boxers and small dogs. I was told the other day at the killing pound that a new perro de agua had come in so I called her and she said: yes, I will take her. When I went to prepare everything like passport etc another two had been dropped. I called her and she said, no problem, I will take them also. I normally pick them up from the killing pound and take them to a meeting point for her to collect them. But that day it was just impossible for me to do so, so I asked her if she could collect them herself although I would leave it all prepared: Passports, vaccinations, payment etc. She did go there and when I called her in the afternoon to see if everything went alright she said: Yes, but I have taken 10 other dogs out!!! She takes the oldies and big ones because they will never find an adoption. Really incredibe what this lady does. Thanks Fabienne. You make a difference in this terrible animal world!

Nunca acaba/It never ends

Cuando fui el otro dia a la perrera a preparar el viaje de Amor para Barcelona me dijeron que habia entrado una galga nueva....Hoy voy para sacarle sangre para las analiticas y adivinen.....habia entrado otra.. A lo mejor os aburro porque siempre cuento lo mismo pero es que es la triste realidad. Asi que saque las fotos de las pobres dos abandonadas por su dueño, mejor dicho, verdugo, la sangre para analiticas y las desparasite y vacune. Las dos son mayorcitas (7 años la canela y 6 la negrita) y espero que alguna organizacion se apiedada de ellas, o mejor, un familia. Es duro ver que abandonen a perros jovenes como Cloe y Amor(que afortunadamente ya tienen casa de acogida, pero es peor ver a las mayorcitas que han servido a su dueño durante tantos años para terminar asi. NUNCA lo entendere. Son utensilios de usar y tirar para sus galgueros. Las dos son confiadas y buenas. A ver si tengo suerte y las puedo salvar. Tambien tienen derecho a saborear una vida mejor.

When I went the other day to the killing pound to prepare Amor´s passport to travell to Barcelona I was told that a new galga had come in so I went there today to take the blood samples for tests, vaccinate and deworm her and guess.......Yes, as usual another one had come in...I may repeat myself but this is what I find every time I go there. So I took photos of the two who had been abandonned by their owner, took blood samples, vaccinated them and dewormed them. Both of them are "oldies"(7 the cream one and 6 the black one) and I so much hope that some asociation will be able to take care of them, or, much better, an adoption or foster family. It is hard to see that they abandon young dogs but I think it is even worse for older ones. They have been serving their owners for mny years to finish like this! I will NEVER understand it. They are just tools to be used and get rid of. Both are very sweet and confident with people. I so much hope that I will be able to safe them. I will do all my best and more. They also deserve a better life.

Gracias a su familia de adopcion tengo todas estas maravillosas fotos de Kenia. Llego bien y mirad como esta! De lujo! Ya va teniendo amigos galgos porque amigos de la familia tienen 4 galgos! Al presentarlos Kenia dejaba ver que no le gustaba que se le acercaran demasiado, muy tipico de ella, pero luego no hay ningun problema y estuvieron a gusto juntos. Ya jugara. Ha pasado por tantos cambios que se tiene que hacer a su nuevo entorno pero : esta a salvo y con una familia que la quiere y la cuidara muy bien. Gracias Katia y familia! Te quiero Kenia! Gracias a la familia que la ha adoptado esta viva y podra disfrutar de una vida maravillosa. Espero que llegara el dia que todos los animales puedan tener la misma suerte.

Thanks to her adoption family I have got all those photos from Kenia in her new home. She arrived well and look at her! She is really fine! She is knowing other galgos because friends of her adoption family have 4 galgos. When they were introduced Kenia was a bit bitchy as usual when other dogs want to smell her too much but in a while that is over and she enjoys the company of the others. They will start playing soon, I am sure. She has had so many changes in the last months that she still has to adapt to all that but her adoption family is looking after her very well and she will soon forget all she has had to go through. She is safe now with a great family who loves her. Thanks Katia and family! Love you Kenia! Thanks to the family who adopted her she is alive and will be able to enjoy a great life! I so much hope that one day all animals can have the same oportunity.

Hace meses me llego un correo de difusion sobre esta galga. Buscaban adopcion para ella. Su galguero le amputo la pata porque la habia herido en un cepo. Para que gastarse dinero en cirurgia? Con 3 patas era util para criar. Menos mal que hubo una buena señora que le convencio que le diera la galga. Bueno, me dio mucha pena de esta perrita y la puse en la pagina de GRH para buscar una familia de adopcion y........ya la tiene!! Viajara el dia 9 de Agosto a su familia de siempre que la esta esperando con mucha impaciencia. Que suerte Mila! Que tengas una buena vida! Seguro que si! Gracias tambien a la familia que la quito de las manos del cazador!

Some monthes ago I recieved a chain email looking for an adoption family for Mila. Her hunter had made her leg amputate because she hurt it in a trap. Why try a surgery? Too expensive. She would be still good for breading.....Fortunately a great lady convinced him to give Mila to her and so he did. I proposed to put Mila on the GRH site for adoption and......she has been adopted by a great family with experience. She will travell 9 August and they are impatient to start loving her and caring for her. Lucky Mila! Have a great rest of your live! I am sure you will! Thanks to the family who took her away from the hunter!

Gracias a la solidaridad de mucha gente (extranjera sobre todo) he podido sacar a estas dos preciosidades! Que preocupadas me tenian! Pero lo mejor de todo es que, gracias a otras buenas personas, he encontrado 2 casas de acogida para ellas!!! Una en Madrid y la otra en Barcelona (Sos galgos). Amor viajara la semana que viene a Barcelona y Cloe tendra que esperar un poco porque acaba de empezar con el celo. Esta sola en la jaula asi que no hay peligro.

Gracias a todos por ayudarme a que estas dos perritas no sean sacrificadas!

Thanks to the solidarity of many people (specially from abroad) I have been able to take thos two beauties out of the killing pound and put them in the pension!! I was so worried about them!

But the best news is that, thanks to other good people, I have found foster families for both. One in Madrid (animalshaven)and the other one in Barcelona (Sos galgos). Amor will travell next week and Cloe will have to wait because she has just started her heath. She is on her own in a kennel so no danger...

Arena va de maravilla! Ya come el mismo pienso que los demas aunque yo le sigo dando tambien latas de recuperacion, yoghurt etc. Juega y esta alegre. Lo mas gracioso es que por las tardes, cuando tengo un buen rato para sentarme, se pone su cabeza en mi falda y NO SE MUEVE de alli! Cuando se acerca otro perro le enseña los dientes como diciendo: Es mia! Pobrecita, como esta recuperando el cariño que nunca le han dado. Es emocionante. Las demas fotos: Pues para que veais lo feliz que estan los perros alli. Que bien se lo pasan!

Arena is doing great! She is eating the same dogfood as the others although I still continue to give her recovery tins and yoghurt. She plays and is happy. It is funny to see her in the afternoons when I have time to sit down for a while. She puts her head on my legs and stays there WITHOUT MOVING! When another dog approaches she growls at him/her, like saying: She is mine! Poor sweety, how she is recovering the love she has never received in her life! Really emotional.

Estas dos jovencitas estan en la perrera de Malaga. Entraron 4 el 25 de Junio y quedan estas dos. Una de pelo largo (la de abajo) ya esta salvada, a otra atigrada la acrificaron porque tenia tumores.....y quedan estas dos. Se dice por alli que las negras son mas dificiles de adoptar pero si es que son dos dulcuras. Somos racistas con los perros????? Las podria meter en pension para salvarlas pero no tengo dinero para eso. Si alguien me quiere ayudar a costear la pension (3€ dia/perro) las podriamos sacar y evitar que sean sacrificadas. Yo no tengo sitio en mi refugio si no ya las habria sacado. No tienen la culpa haber nacido negras y en manos de cazadores sin escrupulos. Se agradecerian donaciones.....

Those two loves are waiting in the Malaga killing station to be either adopted or to be eutanised....4 arrived at the killingstation on 25 june. one has been saved (see below), a bindle one has been put to sleep because she had cancer and those two young loves are waiting for someone to save their lives. They say that it is more difficult that people adopt black animals....Are we racists???? They are not guilty of having been born black and at a hunters place. Both are really lovely and young (1 and 2 years). I could put them in pension (3€ dog/day) but I donot have the money. Any donations are appreciated......

No tengo fotos nuevas de ella pero ya las hare. Esta luchadora va a salir adelante! Ya desde el viernes le han quitado el suero y hoy ya me han dicho que la puedo ir cuidando en el refugio con su tratamiento de vitaminas y homeopatia. Ha engordado 1,800 kg y eso es muy buen simtoma. Esta comiendo con ganas lo que pasa es que se esta volviendo muy selectiva, claro! Ya le pongo arroz con el pollo pero no, ella se come el pollo y deja el arroz. Que lista! Le pongo unas latas especiales y lo mezclo con pienso especial....Se come la lata y deja el pienso! Pero ya se acostumbrara a comer como los demas. No tengo prisa.

I donot have new photos of Arena but I will take them. This dear sweety will survive. She has struggled but she will get there. As from last Friday she doesn´t need to get any more artificial hidratation and today the vet said that I could follow the treatment at the kennel with vitamins and homeopatic treatment. She has gained 1,800 kg of weight which is a good sign. She now enjoys eating but I have tried to mix the chicken with rice and she only eats the chicken. Inteligent lady! I give her aswell special tin food which I mix with special dry food. Well, she eats the tin food and leaves the dry food...No problem, she will learn to eat her normal dog food. No hurry!

Menos mal que tengo esta furgoneta que me lleva a mi, a los perros y a los transportines etc etc de aqui para alla....

Esta mañana me levante a las 7.30. Tenia muchas cosas que hacer...Llegue al refugio y limpie aquello, solte los perros, les di de comer, sus medicinas etc etc. Luego tenia que ir a la perrera para organizar el transporte de una galga que habia alli y viajaba a Sevilla (abajo), pero tambie tenia que recojer unas medicinas que habia que enviar a Sevilla aprovechando el mismo transporte de mensajeria. Me llama la veterinaria para decirme que no le habia llegado el pedido y que lo buscara en otras clinicas. No me iba a dar tiempo.....La llame de nuevo y le pregunte que aquello que necesitaba se podia encontrar en farmacia: Si, pero con receta asi que al veterinario a por las recetas, a la farmacia, a casa para recojer el transportin y a la perrera para preparar la galga para el transporte de la tarde. Chip, cambio de nombre, vacuna de la rabia, papeleo etc. Lleve el transportin pero al ver a la galga me parecio pequeño. La compañia de transportes exije que pueda dar la vuelta y ponerse bien de pie ya que se pasan en el muchas horas. (Salio a las 17 de la tarde y no llegara a Sevilla hasta mañana por la mañana. El transporte se hace por la tarde y se queda en el almacen de la compañia para ser entregado por la mañana el dia siguiente). Termine en la perrera a las 14, me fui a casa donde (menos mal) mi marido habia hecho la comida. Comi y me puse en el ordenador para contestar los muchos correos que hay y me volvi a la perrera a las 16.30 para llevarles un transportin mas grande. Sali de alli a las 17.45 para ir a recojer a Arena al refugio para llevarla al veterinario. Menos mal que hoy no le hacia falta suero! Solo la pincharon y le dieron vitaminas por via oral con una jeringuilla. De vuelta al refugio para atender a los perros donde llegue sobre las 18.30. Solte a los perros, les prepare la cena y las medicinas, le di jamon a Arena que comio con ansieda y me fui a las 19.50. Cuando me estaba yendo llego Octavio, un chico que va por las tardes para estar con los perros (GRACIAS!) asi que se les pudo soltar otro rato mas. A la tienda para comprar 2 pollos para cocinarlas para Arena. Y asi es todos los dias de la semana......Lo positivo es que he adelgazado 7 kilos!! Y que he podido salvar otra vida aunque.....alii quedan 3 mas sin solucion.....Y cuando termine de escribir esto en Ingles me voy a la cama! Mañana otro dia.

Fortunately I have the van with which I take the dogs to the vets, load benches, food etc

This morning I got up at 7.30 as I had many things to do. First to the kennels to clean and let the dogs have a great time running around, give them their food etc After that I had to go to the killing pound to prepare the transport of one of the 4 dogs who are there. I emailed those around about 3 weeks ago to try and find a place for them on order to save them. One has been taken care of by Argos in Seville, keeping and caring for her there till she finds a family through Des Levriers France who host her. I had to send some medecines to Seville aswell so I wanted to use the same transport in order to save costs...My vet had ordered those medecines but....they hadn´t arrived and she said that I should try in other vet clinics. I didn´t have time so I asked if this could be bought in a pharmacy. Yes but I needed a prescription...So to the vet, to the pharmacy and home to pick up the kennel for the transport of Maya/SouKi. To the kliing pound to prepare the paperwork for her to travell, rabies, passports etc. When I saw Maya and the kennel I had taken it was found to be too small....I left there at 2 o´clock. Fortunately my husband had cooked lunch...bless him. Sat at the computor for a while to answer and send mails and back again to the killing pound with a bigger kennel. Left there at 17.45. To the kennel to pick up Arena to take her to the vet. Today she didn´t need to go on the hidration machine as she had eaten very well yesterday and this morning, so only the injections. Back to the kennel. Free the dogs, give them love, food and medecines. At 17.50 I finished and left. Octavio, a young man who comes in the afternoon, arrived just when I left so he let the dogs out again for a while. Thanks Octavio! Went to the butchers to buy more chicken for Arena and back home at 20.20.

And so it goes on every single day.....Now I will go to bed because tomorrow is another busy day but at least I am happy to have ben able to save another life although....there are still 3 there who need to be saved.....

Esta preciosa galga de pelo largo ha tenido la suerte de ser acojida por la asociacion Argos que quidara de ella mientras que Des Levrier de Francia le busque una familia. Elsta organizacion la custodia.

Esta tarde se la ha llevado la compañia de transportes a Sevilla donde estara en una residencia hasta que sea adoptada.Es una de 4 que hay en la perrera y que difundi hace ya unas semanas. Ella ha tenido suerte pero alli quedan 3 mas de momento que necesitan ser salvadas!

Gracias a todos por haberla sacado!

Ay mi niña bonita! Hoy despues del goteo hemos vuelto al refugio y ha comido bastante y.....ha tomado agua! Ya tiene otra cara y ademas ha liado una en la clinica que no veas! Hoy le pusimos el collar Isabelino(yo lo llamo embudo) para que asi me pudiera ir pero se lo quito, rompio su correa y....abrio la puerta del cuarto en el que estaba. Es buen simtoma porque se ve que esta volviendo a ser traviesa. Pero mañana me toca estar las dos horas con ella otra vez para que no se quite la sonda. Que le vamos a hacer. Parece que esta mejorando. Ojala que se cure.

My little beauty!
Today, after the daily clinic visit, we went back to the shelter and she ate her chicken, rice and ham and....drank water all by herself! She has a much better look in her eyes and she made a mess in the clinic. Today we used a plastic cap so she couldn´t take the needle out so I could leave her there instead of staying for 2 hours. So many things to do! She made a mess of it. Broke her cap, broke her leash and....opened the door of the room she was in......Yes! But that is a good sign as she is getting strong and naughty. Great! Although it means that I will have to stay with her tomorrow again for two hours.....Well, she deserves it! I hope so strongly that she will make it!

Tengo fotos de Arena en la clinica y en el refugio pero por alguna razon que desconozco no las puedo descargar, no reconoce el programma. El rollo de la informatica....
Voy todos los dias con Arena a la clinica para que le pongan el suero con vitaminas y antibioticos. El primer dia se quedo alli en la clinica pero el segundo dia, cuando fui a recojerla se habia quitado la sonda asi que ahora tengo que quedarme con ella y asi no se lo quita porque solo quiere mimos. Tardo unas 2 horas con ella asi que estoy mas agobiada todavia. Por lo menos no va peor aunque esta mañana tosia y sigue teniendo mocos. No come nada mas que cuando vuelve de la clinica, pero muy poco. Le doy pollo, jamon, mortadela, quesitos etc pero come poquito y no bebe a penas asi que le doy liquido con una jeringuilla. Hoy lo hemos probado con un bozal. Pero me llamo el veterinario 2 horas despues para decirme que se habia quitado el bozal y la sonda....Ay, mi pobre niña, solo quiere compañia! Se quedo el veterinario con ella y los dos se echaron un ratito a dormir la siesta a medio dia. Ella feliz con el contacto humano. Es una moneria y super cariñosa. Se tiene que salvar!

Pobre Arena! Ahora que ya estaba empezando una vida como se merece y ya tenia adopcion se ha puesto mala, casi seguro es moquillo. Mañana tendre el resultado. Llego muy bien, aunque empezando el celo, pero bueno. Ya la habia vacunado en la perrera.

Comia bien y estaba alegre hasta que llegue el sabado por la mañana y no querria tomar su pate con las vitaminas que siempre les doy cuando salen de la perrera. Me fije y vi que tenia mocos y los ojos muy cargados. Susto! Ya me conozco estos simptomas.....Pero esperaba que podria ser una bronconuemonia porque esto son los dos virus que hay en la perrera de aqui. Emoeze con darle antibioticos pero no mejoro en estos dos dias asi que hoy la he llevado al veterinario para hacerle todas las pruebas. No parece ser neumonia por desgracias (es mas curable). Mañana tendre los resultados de la 2da analitica de moquillo pero no pinta nada bien porque no come y se esta deshidratando. Le doy de todo, agua con jeringuilla, comida por la boca, antibioticos pinchados porque devuelve.....Ojala que la pobre lo supere pero no esta nada nada bien. Es tan triste esto.

Poor Arena. Now she finally started to enjoy a good and deserved life and had an adoption she started to be ill, almost for sure that it is destemper! Tomorrow I will have the results of the second test. The first one was done 10 days ago and was negative.....She has been vaccinated and was taking vitamins as I always do when they come out of the killingstation. She was really fine and taking her vitamins with pate but satyrday morning she didn´t want to eat at all. I observed her and saw she had snot and her eyes looked funny. I started giving her antibiotics but she didn´t improve so I took her to the vet this morning and all test have been done. I hoped it would be bronconeumonio as that is easier to heal but all signs point out to destemper. Tomorrow I will know for sure. I will try my utmost to save her but I have been told that there is no real treatment. Many vitamins and antibiotics might help. It depends.

I hope she will make it, my sweet girl. This is very very sad.

transporte con articulos de ayuda de GRH/transport of donation goods from GRH

4000 kilos de articulos de ayuda fueron mandados desde Holanda a Sevilla para los refugios colaboradores! Unos voluntarios de GRH los transportaron en un camion para caballos! El problema para mi es que llega a Sevilla y yo vivo en Malaga y no tengo tiempo de desplazarme ya que estoy involucrada en mi refugio los 7 dias de la semana. Pero por suerte, el hijo del presidente vive en Sevilla y tomaba un avion desde Malaga el dia 8 de Julio. El camion llego a su casa el dia 5. El vino a nuestra casa el dia 7 con la furgoneta de GRH que hay en Sevilla y me trajo un monton de cosas. Que alegria! Durmio aqui y le lleve al aeropuerto la mañana siguiente. Vuelve el dia 15 y se lleva a Kenia para su casa. Se quedara alli hasta que pueda coger su vuelo el dia 26 para ir a su paraiso: su familia adoptiva!

4000 kilos of donation goods were send from Holland by GRH to Seville for their colaborating shelters! Some volunteers brought them in a lorry for horses. My problem is that I live in Malaga and I have no time to go to Seville because I am dedicated 7 days a week to my kennel. But fortunately, the presidents son lives in Seville and was going to take a flight from Malaga airport on the 8 July. The goods arrived on 5 July. He came with "Sjakie" to our home with my part of the goods and will travell back on the 15 July with Kenia who will saty at his home and travell to her Paradise: her adoption family, on the 26 July.

Adan en casa/Adan at home

Mi querido Adan, que lleva en mi refugio desde el 14 de Febrero, esta en nuestra casa en acogida. Cuando se fui la ultima que teniamos, Dama, teniamos sitio libre pero nos ibamos de vacaciones y nuestros perros se quedan solos aunque vienen todos los dias a echarles de comer. No era plan dejarlo aqui mientras que estabamos fuera. Volvimos el sabado 25 de Junio y el domingo 26 me lo lleve a casa. Bueno, me lo llevaron mis queridas amigas de Malaga porque yo no tenia la furgoneta. Pues se esta adoptando de maravilla y, como ya sabia, es un amor de perro. Para el ha sido facil adaptarse porque ya me conocia asi que realmente no fue extraño para el aunque logicamente se tenia que adaptar a la casa y a nuestros perros. Pero esta feliz! Las manchas negras que se le ven en la foto son porque se tiraba a la piscina cubierta con lona para refrescarse (por desgracias no he podido hacer fotos de eso) y luego se revolcaba en la tierra. Espero que pronto encuentre una familia para siempre porque es el perro mas noble que he conocido. Me va a costar horrores "deshacerme" de el. Pero bueno, asi es la acogida.......dificilismo. Pero hay tantos que nos necesitan que hay que ser fuerte por mucho que cueste.

This is our new foster dog, Adan who was in my shelter since 14 Febuary. When our last sweet galgo, Dama, left, we were about to go on holidays and our dogs stay at home alone although someone comes every day to take care of them but that was not an ideal situation for a new foster dog. We came back on the 25th and on the 26st I took Adam to our home. He has adapted very well as he already new me as his "boss" from the shelter. In the beginning he had to adapt to our dogs but that was not a problem. He is soooo happy! The black spots on the photos are because he loves getting wet in our pool whilst it was covered with a plastic for winter. He just went in there, sat down and cooled down (Haven´t been able to take photos of that, a pitty!) and once cooled down he then runned through the earth having a great time and getting dirty!

He is the sweetest dog I have ever seen and I hope he will find a family for ever soon although it will be, again, very hard to let him go. But that is what fostering is about. You need to focuss on so many others who have the right aswell to get the oportunity to live a deserved life. Very difficult but........I have to be strong.....

Kenia adoptada!!!/Kenia adopted!!!!

Esta preciosa niña ha tenido la suerte de ser adoptada por una buena familia en Holanda. La esterelize el jueves pasado y esta fenomenal. Que fuertes son. Va a ser todo una odisea porque sale de Sevilla y a mi me es dificil cojer un dia libre para llevarla desde Malaga ya que tengo que estar en el refugio. Pues la suerte ha sido que Remco, hijo del presidente de GRH, vive en Sevilla pero viajaba hoy desde Malaga en avion. Llego a nuestra casa anoche con el furgon "Sjakie" con articulos de ayuda que han mandado para todos los refugios desde Holanda en camion (ya hablare de ello), ha dormido aqui dejando Sjakie en casa para que a la vuelta (en una semana) se pueda llevar a Kenia a Sevilla. Vuelve el dia 15 y Kenia tendra que estar 8 dias en su casa (tiene mas galgos) y luego el la embarca para volar a Bruselas donde la recojera su familia de adopcion. Vaya organozacion y vaya lio para Kenia pero es muy buena y adora a los humanos.

It will be a whole organisation to get her to Holland because her flight leaves from Seville and for me it is difficult to take her there (2 1/2 hour journey) as I have to take care of the shelter every day. But...it has been perfectly organised by GRH. The presidents son lives in Seville and was going to take a flight from Malaga today. So, he arrived at our home yesterday afternoon with the GRH van "Sjakie" with lots of goods for the shelter which were send by lorry from Holland this week (will talk about that later). He passed the night here and I took him to the airport. Sjakie stays at home. He will come back next week and take Kenia in the van to his home (he has several galgos) where she will stay till her departure on the 26 July. She will fly to Brussels where her new family will pick her up. It is a whole organisation and Kenia will have to go through many changes but she will be fine as she loves to be with people. She is a sweety and will make her family very happy!

Estas son las ultimos 3 que he podido sacar de la perrera. Ya los habia puesto en pension una amiga mia mientras que yo estaba de vacaciones. Cuando volvi les hice los tests necesarios y afortunadamente estan sanos. El atirgrado y blanco es Lucas y macho, las otras dos son hembras, Arena y Nube. Les deje sueltos nada mas llegar al refugio y como disfrutaron! Luego les di un baño desenfectante (que no les gusto nada!) y ahora se tienen que adoptar a otro cambio en su vida. Son muy cariñosos los 3.

Hereby the 3 new beauties who I have been able to take out of the killingstation yesterday afternoon. They were already in a pension thanks to a friend of mine who took them out whilst I was on holidays. When I came back I did the necesary tests and, fortunately, they are all healthy. The brindle and white one is a boy and called Lucas, the other two are girls and called Nube and Arena. I let them free when I brought them to the kennel and they had great fun! Then I gave them a bath with disinfectant (didn´t like it!!) and now they are adapting to another change in their lives. All 3 are very sweet.

Asi esta Casper ahora despues de haber sido bañado, vacunado etc. Le cuesta adaptarse al pobre, no le gusta estar en la jaula y cuando me voy llora. Necesitaria una casa de acogida o adopcion para que sea feliz. Pero bueno, cuando esta suelto ya juega y corre y come muy bien.

Gracias a una donacion he podido instalar un sistema de nebulizacion en las jaulas de los perros para paliar el calor. Me lo ha instalado mi yerno asi que mano de obra gratis! Ademas fue idea suya. Es precioso ver como les gusta. Aun estando las puertas abiertas para que esten sueltos, se meten debajo, dentro de las jaulas. Yo tambien me meto debajo porque vaya que se pasa calor ahora alli!

Thanks to a donation I have been able to install a system which frees a mist of water in the kennels in order to alleviate the heat. The dogs just love it! Eventhough the doors of the kennels are open they lay inside underneath the mist. I do the same.....it is getting really hot now!

Thanks to some wonderfull people who have looked after the dogs I have been able to go on holidays for 10 days! I needed a rest although in my absence I was told that 6 new galgos arrived at the killing station. A friend of mine went there and put them safely in the doghotel nearby. Tomorrow I will go to see and treat them.

Que bonito dia hoy! Esta tarde, justo antes de irme al refugio para reunirme con parte de la gente que me va a cuidar a los perros durante mis vacaciones, me llama una amiga de Estepona, una amiga que adopto a una de mis galgas de acogida: Abi. Su marido acababa de encontrar a un galgo abandonado en el pueblo. Que ¿qué podian hacer con el?. ¡Pues traerlo! y asi lo hicieron.No tuvieron ningun reparo en meterlo en su coche y traerlo (1 hora y poco mas de camino) ¡Suerte que tenia sitio! Si no ¿Qué hubieran hecho con el pobre?
Y que suerte que tenia ayuda esta tarde porque el pobre, lo hemos llamado Casper, venia comido de garrapatas! Una de las chicas lo baño, lo desinfectamos y luego, en equipo, le quitamos los cientos de garrapatas que tenia. Un buen trabajo en equipo! Es un galgo joven de aproximadamente 1 año y buenismo. No tiene miedo y es jugueton. Lo que no le gustó mucho fue verse encerrado en su chenil cuando ya por fin nos fuimos….Por lo menos esta mas limpio que nunca ha estado y dormira en una cama calentita .
Mañana habra que introducirlo a los demas poquito a poco. Siempre se ponen nerviosos cuando entra un perro nuevo. Ya tengo cita con el veterinario para mañana para que lo lleve un chico encantador que me ayuda a hacerle todas las pruebas necesarias.

What a great day today! This afternoon, just before going to the shelter to have a meeting with part of the people who are going to look after the dogs when I am on holidays, I receive a phonecall from a friend of Estepona who adopted my foster galga Abi. Her husband had found a galgo in the village. She asked me what they could do. I said: bring him here to my shelter. And that is what they did. They didnñt hesitate to put the galgo in their car and drive for 1 hour plus to my shelter. Lucky enough I had space! If not, what could they have done?
And how lucky I was to have help today because the poor dog, we have called him Casper, was infected by hyndred of ticks. One of the girls washed him, we disinfected him and removed the ticks. What a great teamwork!
Casper is about a year old and a happy dog despite of the state he was in. What he didn´t like too much was see himself inside the kennel where we left him when we left but at least he will sleep in a warm bed.
Tomorrow I have an appointment at the vets to do the necessary tests and vaccinate him. A very kind volunteer will take him. And apart from that I have to start introducing him to the others. They always get nervous when a new one comes in.

Dulce Addy! Que miedo tiene! Cuando saco todos los perros ella solo sale cuando estoy yo. Cuando hay mas personas no se atreve. Aun asi solo salia un rato. Tiene miedo de las personas desconocidas y de los perros demasiado brutos. Pero a Addy le cambio la vida hace dos dias. Un chica encantadora se la ha llevado de acogida!! Y mirad que diferencia se ve ya en su postura. La primera foto es en el refugio y las otras dos de su casa de acogida. Esto es lo que escribe su mami:

"Addy esta muy bien. Ahora mismo esta en el sofa, la mitad de su cuerpo debajo de una sabana. Ayer(cuando llego) corria inquita por las casa, deje todas las puertas abiertas. Frank y yo estabamos sentados en el porche y, despues de una hora, se acerco y la pudimos tocar. Despues de un rato no se cansaba de las caricias y querria mas y mas. Estoy sorprendida de lo rapido que se esta mejorando. Hizo sus necesidades fuera, perfecto. No comio bien ayer pero esta mañana se comio una salchicha que le di."

Sweet Addy! So frightened. When I let all the galgos free she only comes out of her kennel when I am there, not when other people are there. Despite that she only comes out for a while because she is afraid of the stronger dogs. But Addy´s life has changed thanks to a lovely girl who has taken her for foster. And look mhow different she already looks after two days! The first photo is in the kennel and the other two at her foster home. This is what her mum writes:

Esperanza va reacionando a los tratamientos! Increible que fortaleza tienen estos pobres animales. Ya empieza a poder apoyarse un poco sobre las patas traseras, las delanteras estan mas debiles pero por lo menos es un buen simtoma. Chapeau por su familia de acogida! Cuando Esperanza necesita algo llora como un bebe, tambien cuando tiene que hacer sus necesidades. Increible!

Esperanza is getting better with the treatment she is receiving! Incredible how strong those poor animals are. She is starting to stand a little bit on her back legs, the front ones are more difficult but it is a good sign. I admire the foster family! When Esperanza needs something she cries like a baby, also when she needs to do pi an poo. Incredible!

El precioso galgo negro y blanco fue mi primer galgo de acogida. De esto ya hace 1 1/2 año, me acordare siempre. Pues esta familia ha vuelto a adoptar una galga de España hace un par de meses y me escriben noticias. Ya podeis ver aqui la suerte que han tenido los dos! Cuentan que se los han llevado de vacaciones (cosa muy normal en estos paises) a Checoslovaquia y que mucha gente les ha hecho fotos. Cuentan que es un pais donde aman a los perros y que te los puedes llevar a cualquier sitio, restaurantes etc. Y yo me pregunto: que pasa en nuestro pais que no se puede hacer esto? Me comentaron hace tiempo que hasta en Italia los perros estan mejor aceptados que en nuestro pais. Los puedes subir al los autobuses, a los taxis.. Que tenemos que hacer para que esto llegue a España???? Es frustrante.

The beautifull black and white galgo was my first foster dog. This was 1 1/2 year ago and I will always remember him. Well, this familiy decided to adopt another galgo about two months ago, a female this time. They write to me on how Freedom is doing and now aswell about the new adopted galga. You can see how lucky those two have been! They tell me that they went on holidays and took them with them (very commun in the northern countries). They went to Checoslovaquia and say that people adore dogs there. You can take them anywhere, restaurants etc. Many photos were taken of the two. And I cuestion: Why does this not happen in Spain? I was told some time ago that even in Italy they respect dogs more than in Spain. They can go with you on public transport, something forbidden in Spain!!! What could we do to change this mentalety in Spain??????? Frustrating!

Está muy bien. El primer día no hacía más que mirar intranquila hacia todos lados, supongo que trataba de buscarte. Lloró un poco tambien pero se paso prontocon una salchicha tamaño Holandés.Ayer ya empezo a tener más contacto conmigo y a mirarme a los ojos directamente y a dejar que mi novio la tocara. Es tan dulce...Cuando estamos solas las dos se pone panza arriba para que la toque la barriga y la encantan los masajes en el cuello, pero si mi novio viene a la habitaciónse separa y se pone más tensa. Supongo que con tiempo se pasará.Aun así, el progreso está yendo super rápido, en solamente dos días ya sabe que está con nosotros y se fía absolutamente. Hoy la hemos dejado suelta en playay ha estado super relajada. A veces hace el amago de querer jugar, pero de momento se corta. Con tiempo.Intento hacer terapia con ella despacito en el parque, y si algo la asusta nos sentamos tranquilas cerca de ello por un rato para que veaque no pasa nada. De momento las bicis la dan mucho miedo, los hombres y los ruidos fuertes. Creo que la mayoria de los miedos se iran pronto,ya que aquí la vida es mucho mas relajada y tranquila que en España.Come estupendo y la mimamos un monton con premios y carne cada vez que se relaja cuando la tocamos.La encanta dormir sieta al lado mio, pero cuando mi chico viene a la cama, directamente ella se va a la suya.Bueno, sólo eso de momento. This is what her foster mum tells me from Holland:

She is doing very well. The first day she didn´t stop looking around, unquiet, probably she was looking for you. She cried a little bit but that stopped quickly as soon as I gave her a Dutch size sausage. Yesterday she already started looking for contact with me and let my boyfriend touch her. She is sooooo sweet! When we are toghether she lays on her back and wants me to carress her on her belly and she loves getting a massage in her neck. When my boyfriend comes she gets a bit tense again. I suppose that that will change in a short time. Nevertheless the adption process is going very quickly. In two days she knows already that she is with us. Today we let her free on the beach and she was very relaxed. She sometimes does like she wants to play but then she stops. She just needs time. I will do teraphy with her. She is frightened of bicicles, men and noises when she is outside. I then sit down with her and show her that nothing will happen. I think that her fears will disappear soon because life is much more quiet here than in Spain. She eats very well and we spoil her with cookies etc every time she gets relaxed when we touch her. She loves sleeping siesta with me on the bed but when my boyfriend arrives she jumps on her own bed.
This is it for the moment. Many thanks for having rescued her and having looked after her. Just want you to know that she is in good hands and that she is living in a country now where animals are respected.

Esta es Brenda y es Mastin cruce con galgo, pero bueno, es mucho mas Mastin. Necesitaba acogida urgente porque estaba en una pension muy regular. La habian encontrado en una gasolinera en Sante Fe, Granada. La trajeron a Malaga y hubo un señor que se quiso hacer cargo de ella. Tenia una nave.....Menos mal que el chip estaba a nombre de un chico (hermano de la chica que la salvo) porque este señor de la nave la abandono. Fue encontrada y llamaron al chico. Difusion por internet y termino en mi refugio! Es una preciosidad de estampa y de caracter. Se lleva bien con todos mis galgos aunque alguno de mis galgos no se llevan bien con ella. A ver si le encontramos pronto una casa.

This is Brenda and she is a Mastin mix with galgo although she is much more Mastin than galgo. She needed an urgent place because she was istaying n a very basic pension. She was found at a Petrol station in Santa Fe, Granada. They rescued her and took her to Malaga where they found a man who wanted to take care of her. He had a premise.... Fortunately her chip was under the name of the brother of the girl who rescued her because she was found abandoned by the police!!! And she finished up in my kennel! She is a beauty and very very friendly. Gets on well with my galgos although some of the galgos donot get on well with her! I need to find a good home for her.

Ay mi niña bonita! Que asustada estaba! Pero me seguia a todas partes y andaba perfectamente con la correo, tambien dentro del aeropuerto. Hay galgos que cuando pisan el suelo resbaladizo se quedan petrificados, ella no aunque con el rabo entre las patas, observandolo todo y mirandome para buscar seguridad. Y eso es lo que cada vez me duele mas: la confianza que ponen en una y les "abandonas" de nuevo. Ya se que me repito con esto pero siempre me cuesta. Pero bueno, ya se habra olvidado y estara tumbada en su cama blandita en casa de una familia. Ha ido a una familia de acogida y espero que pronto encontrara su familia para siempre. Es una perra muy tranquila y muy buena aunque MUY tragona. Pesa 25 kilos y no es de los galgos grandes. Suerte mi amor! Siempre te tendre en mi corazon! Que te vaya muy muy bien! Yo desde luego te echo de menos.

My dear darling girl! She was so afraid! But nevertheless she followed me everywhere, aswell inside the airport building. There are some galgos who, when you go inside the builing, they just stand still, without moving on the slippery ground. Not Dama although she had her tail between her legs and looked at me asking for reassurance. And that is what I most suffer from: the assurance they have in you and then you "abandon" them again. I know I repeat myself but it is very hard every time again. But ok, she must have forgotten by now and be sleeping on a soft bed at her home. She has gone to a foster family and I hope she will soon find her forever home. She is a very quiet dog and very sweet, also a very good eater!! She weighs 25 kilos and she is not a big galga. Good luck my love! I will always have you in my heart! I miss you much!

Lo que te hace seguir luchando contra la barbarie que cometen algunos malnacios con los animales es cuando ves que hay gente valiente y entregada. Lo que debe de estar pasando esta familia de acogida tiene que ser muy duro. Ver como sufre este animal precioso dia a dia, ver que la recuperacion es lenta y pensar que quisaz no saldra bien de todo este proceso de curacion tiene que ser dificil. Parece ser que tiene sensibilidad en las 4 patas. Y desde luego se hace notar cuando necesita algo: Protesta, llorisquea, grita. Animalito. Que suerte ha tenido que haya sido salvada. Lucha Esperanza! Te espera una vida que nunca habia conocido y que tanto te mereces tu y tus semejantes!

What makes me continue to struggle against the cruelty of some malicious people is when you see that there are brave people like the ones who are fostering Esperanza (Hope). They must pass through terrible moments seeing how she is suffering with no certainity that she will recover totally, Her recovery is very slow and noone knows if she will recover totally. At least she has feeling in her 4 legs. And she makes herself known when she needs someting: crying and shouting, protesting. She has been so lucky to have been rescued. Fight Esperanza! There is a life waiting for you whcih you could never have imagined!

Esta galga mix es otra pobre que fue abandonada. Menos mal que una chica con corazon la pudo salvar de una estacion en la provincia de Granada y se la llevo a su casa. Pero alli no la podia tener mucho tiempo porque ya esta saturada como nos pasa a todos. Un señor se ofrecio cuidarla en una finca pero ahora le han expropiado el terreno porque alli se esta construyendo una carretrea nueva asi que devuelta a la chica que lo encontro que no tuvo mas remedio de meterlo en una pension. Gracias a que me llego la difusion y que ademas es en Malaga, donde vivo y tengo el refugio, contacte con ella y me la van a traer el martes. GRH ya me ha dicho que, aunque sea mezcla, la pondran en la pagina para adopcion. Esperemos que tambien esta niña encuentre un hogar feliz! Yo desde luego voy a intentarlo y mientras tanto mimarla todo lo que pueda.

This galgo mix is another poor girl who was abandoned. Fortunately a girl could save her when she found her et a petrol station and took her home. But there she couldn´t keep her because she already has many animals. A man said he would care for her at a plot but now they have expropiated the place because they are building a new road so he has given Brenda back to the girl who saved her. She has put him in a pension and thanks to an email I received I can save her. She is in Malaga, near my kennel. I am looking very much forward to receiving her on Thursday. GRH has said that they would put her on their website for adoption. Let´s hope that, eventhough she is a mix, she will soon find her family. Meanwhile I will give her all the love and care she needs.

Me rio porque cuando llego y abro las jaulas salen todos con mucha energia, como siempre, pero ahora que esta haciendo mas calor, se cansan muy pronto y mira las fotos! Se tumban enseguida . Tirados pero felices. Lo de los bozales ha sido un invento perfecto porque ahora ya pueden estar todos sueltos a la vez. Los que necesitan bozal estan sueltos un buen rato sin el antes de que suelto a los demas porque logicamente no les gusta llevarlo. Pero bueno, mejor estar sueltos con bozal que encerrados sin el.....

I have a good laugh because when I arrive at the kennel I open the kennels and they all start running around but now it is getting warm they donot last long. Look at the photos! After a while they lay down and relax. But they are happy. The system of using the muzzles is just perfect because now I can let them out all at the same time. Although when I arrive I first free the ones who need to wear a muzzle without it so they can run free and play because they donot like wearing them, of course. Once tired of running around I put their muzzles on and let the others go out. Just perfect!

Mira estas dos pobres. Ya estaban con tranquilizante cuando les hize la foto. Siempre me da mucha pena hacerles esto pero bueno, hay que hacerlo y lo tienen que pasar (y yo tambien...) He llamado a la clinica y las dos estan bien y dentro de un rato las voy a buscar. Ahora hay que cuidarlas y darles muchas vitaminas para que se recuperen bien. En 10 dias ya habra pasado.

Look at those poor darlings. When I took this photo they had already been tranquilised. I always feel very sorry to do this to them but ok, it has to be done and they have to pass it (and so have I..), Just called the clinic and they are both fine and I will pick them up in a while. Now I have to specially care for them and give them lots of vitanmins so they recover well. In 10 days it will be all over!

Mi preciosa y dulce Dama 2 tiene una familia de acogida en Holanda! Que buena noticia para ella. Es una niña que esta llena de cicatrices y lo ha tenido que pasar realmente mal en su vida anterior. Y eso se le nota porque es muy timida y tranquila. No le gustan los alborotos y siempre esta a mi lado. Al principio rehuye de la gente que no conoce. Normal no? Viajara el dia 24 de Mayo, una semana le queda para llegar a una vida mejor que tanto se merecen todos los animales. Me falta hacer la prueba de los gatos pero creo que se llevara bien porque es muy tranquila. Esperemos que la supere! Ay...., otra que voy a echar de menos pero bueno, ya he aprendido no ser egoista y solo pensar en el bien del animal. Preciosa! Que bien vas a estar por fin!

My dear and beautifull Dama 2 has a foster family in Holland! Great news for her. She is a girl full of scars so she must have lived a terrible life before. And you notice that because she is afraid of strange people and very quiet. She doesn´t like the fuss of the other galgos running around and is always near me. But she will find herself once she lives with a family. It is incredible to see them change when they live with a family. She will travell on the 24th of May so only one week to go for her to find her paradise. I still have to do the cat test but I am sure she will pass it because she is very calm. Another one which I will miss very much but I have learned not to be selfish and only think of the interest of the dogs. Dear beauty! Finally you will start a good life!

Estos 4 perros de agua los he salvado hoy de la perrera, aunque realmente los ha salvado Fabienne, una señora Belga que tiene un refugio en la costa donde tiene unos 350 perros. Una estaba preñada y otra tenia un bulto muy infectado por la zona de la vulva. Pero esta señora se merece unas cuantas medallas porque se los lleva igual. Manda muchisimos perros al extranjero. Se hacen las visitas de casa, contrato, seguimiento y todos los perros se van esterelizadas/castrados. Ella tiene buenos contactos en Alemania con la asociacion de perros de agua alli y ya hemos sacado a 9 en poco mas de un mes. Los 5 anteriores ya estan en Alemania. En la sesion de fotos se ven primero en la perrera (que, como podeis ver, tiene muy buenas instalaciones), luego en mi furgoneta y despues ya trasladados a la suya para irse al refugio.

Asi que hoy es otro dia feliz. Me han dicho en la perrera que el cachorro negro que sale en una de las fotos esta adoptado por una familia. Menos mal porque es horrible sacar a unos y dejar a los demas....aunque sigue habiendo muchos alli......

Dos amigas mias, Elvira y Ainara, estan haciendo un trabajo increible en la perrera tambien. Sacando photos de los que hay y difundiendolos. Ya han sacado muchos asi. !Enhorabuena por ellas tambien! Pero hace falta mas gente que se dedique a esto.....

Today I have saved those 4 perros de agua(water dogs), well they have really been saved by Fabienne, a Belgium lady who has a shelter on the coast with around 350 animals. She continouesly sends dogs to other European countries. Home visits are done, follow up, contracts and all animals are neutered. She does an incredible job and has very good contacts with a German organisation for perros de agua so they leave quickly to their homes there. With those 4 she has already saved 9 in the last 2 months. I would give her many medalls because one of the dogs is pregnant and another one has a very ugly infection near her vulve. She takes them anyhow as she has a vet and a lot of help from volunteers.

The first photos are of the killing station (real good installations), the next one of my van transporting the dogs and then the dogs in her van on their way to her kennel.

The black puppy you can see on one of the photos has been adopted by a family. Great to know because leaving one behind is just terrible.....although there are many others who I always have to leave behind.....

Two friends of mine, Elvira and Ainara, are doing an incredible job aswell. They go to this killingstation and take photos which they publish in Facebook. They have already saved an amazing number of dogs. Thanks to them aswell! We need more people who could do this!

esperanza sigue luchando/esperanza continues to struggle

La pobre Esperanzal sigue luchando por su vida y aparentemente va mejorando. Esperemos de todo corazon que pueda llegar a sentir lo que es vivir en una casa como se merece cualquier animal. Por lo menos es una buena noticia que sigue viva, despues de estar casi muerta. Las gracias a la familia de acogida que la ha arropado en su casa. Dicen que se hace notar porque cuando quiere algo empieza a llorar. Bien Esperanza! Tu ya puedes pedir lo que necesites que por fin te lo van a dar!

Poor Esperanza continues to fight for her life and it seems to be that she is improving. I hope with all my hart that she will have the oportunity to feel how it is to live with a family like any animal deserves. The good news at least is that she is still alive when she was almost dead. A big thanks to the family who has fostered her. They say that Esperanza cries loudly when she needs something. Great Esperanza! You can finally ask for what you need and it will be given to you!

mis niñas nuevas/ my new girls

La primera foto es de la perrera y las otras ya en el refugio. Es dificil sacar fotos en condiciones porque cuando me levanto a hacerlas se acercan a mi para mimos. Pero bueno, esto son mis nuevas bellezas negras. Son encantadoras y piden cariño continuamente. Se han adaptado muy bien a otro cambio de lugar en su vida. Pobres animales! De su vida con el galguero a la perrera y ahora a otro lugar aunque por lo menos aqui ya empiezan a sentir lo que es amor. Pero mi experiencia me dice que, a pesar de eso, les cuesta digerir tanto cambio. Pero bueno, estas niñas ya han empezado a vivir una vida digna. Espero que encuentren un hogar definitivo muy pronto! Mientras tanto les daremos el amor que tanto les ha faltado en su vida.

The first photo is of the killingstation and the rest of the shelter. It is difficult to take good photos because when I stand up to take the photographs they come to me for love.
But anyhow, those are my 3 new black beauties. They are very sweet and donot stop asking for love. And of course they will receive that from now on. They have adapted very well to this new change in their lifes. Poor animals! From their life with the galguero to the killingstation and now to a new place but at least they start feeling love for the first time in their life! But my experience tells me that eventhough it takes time for them to digest a new change. But fortunately, those girls have finally started to live a deserved life . I hope they will find a forever home soon! Meanwhile we will give them all the love they had to miss till now.

El horror vivido por Esperanza/The horror Esperanza is going through

Hace unos dias que comente sobre Esperanza, la galga que fue encontrada, despues de buscarla, en un contenedor de basura en una bolsa. Es increible lo que aguantan estos pobres maltratados animales. La ingresaron nada mas encontrarla porque estaba mas muerta que viva. Muchos dias sin comida ni agua, apaleada y maltratada. Le pusieron suero, antibiotico etc y paso las primeras 24 horas que fueron cruciales. La llevaron a un veterinario especialista en traumas porque solo movia los ojos y un poco la cabeza pero no se ponia de pie ni movia las patas. Se hicieron radiografias y nada, se hizo un scan de la cabeza por si el problema estaba alli y finalmente vieron que lo que tenia roto era el cuello....Hijos de puta, no puedo decirlo de otra forma y no lo siento. La estuvieron apaleando despues de haberla dejado sin comida ni bebida. Que me gustaria hacerles lo mismo a ellos. Es indignante y frustrante que haya gente capaz de esto. Y a lo mejor es nuestro vecino....quien sabe....

A pesar de estar muy debil la han operado de la nuca y le han quitado unos huesitos que le estaban clavando en la medula. Una operacion muy muy dura de la que, de momento, ha sobrevivido que ya es algo. Esta en una familia de acogida con experiencia. Menos mal que hay gente valiente! Dependera como va evolucionando en los siguiente 10 dias....Yo desde luego le pondre una vela, rezare por ella y crucare los dedos y lo que haga falta para que esta niña valiente sobreviva y tenga una oportunidad de vivir una vida digna. Lucha querida Esperanza!

Some days ago I wrote about Esperanza, the galga who was found in a rubbish container in a bag. It is just incredible what those animals are able to support. The people who found her went straight to the vet clinic as she was more dead than alive. She was put on serum and antibiotics and survived the first 24 hours. As she didn´t stand up and only moved her eyes, they decided to take her to a specialist vet. They did the x rays but nothing was found, they then did a scan of her head and saw that her neck was broken. She had been beaten after having passed days without food and water. Son of the bitches, I just have no other words and I donot mind saying this here. I would like to see that the same happens to the people who did this to her. Why, why, why the hell????? It is outrageous and frustrating that people are able to do this. Maybe it is our neighbour......

Eventhough she is very weak they decided to do the surgery and take the small bone splinters away which were hurting her spine. A very severe surgery wherefrom she at the moment has survived. The following 10 days are critical. She has been taken into foster by an experienced family. Fortunately there are good and brave people around. I will cross fingers, put a candle and pray for her hoping that she gets through and will have the oportunity to live a deserved life.

Llego el dia...Cada vez que despido uno de mis perros de acogida digo: Ya no lo hago mas! Me la hubiera quedado! Pero bueno, vuelvo a recordar porque lo hago, aunque esta vez no vamos a acoger a ninguno hasta que volvamos de vacaciones a finales de Junio. Aunque...... Ya veremos.

Estoy muy triste, claro, pero la tranquilidad que tengo es que se que va a estar de maravilla. Un jardin grande, largos paseos dos veces al dia, vacaciones con la familia, enfin, no se lo hubiera imaginado cuando su galguero la explotaba cazando y criando.

Tengo una amistad con la señora que la ha adoptado y tenemos mucho contacto asi que sabre de ella, igual que de Quia que tambien la adopto.

La pobre Dama estaba muy asustada hoy. Ya habra llegado y estara pensando que que diablos le ha pasado....pero enseguida recibira cariño y se le ira pasando. Cuando llegue a su nueva casa le esperaran 3 perros mas, dos whippets y "mi" Quia. A ver si Dama y Quia comentan su acogida en mi casa, jaja. "Te acuerdas de Vera que nos saco de la perrera? Que suerte hemos tenido!!!

Adios linda, se que lo he hecho bien aunque nos duele en el alma. Gracias Edith por darles vuestro amor y cariño!!!

The day came....Everytime I send one of my foster dogs I say: I will not do it again. I wanted to keep him/her. But then I remember why I do this, although this time we are not fostering one till we come back from our holidays end June. Although.......we will see.

I am very sad, of course, but I am relaxed because she will be loved and cared for very much. A big garden, long walks twice a day, holidays with the family etc She could never have imagined this when she was abused by her galguero hunting and breading.

I have a very good contact with her new mother so I will get news on how she is doing, same as with Quia who she adopted from me aswell.

Poor Dama was very stressed today. She must have arrived by now and be thinking: What the hell is going on now......but she will receive lots of love from the beginning and she will start forgetting. Once she gets to her new home there will be 3 other dogs waiting for her: 2 whippets and "my" galga Quia. Maybe Dama and Quia can talk about when they were fostered at our house, haha. "Remember when Vera took us out of the killingstation? We have been really lucky"

Bye bye beauty, I know I have done well although our hearts hurt. Thank you Edith for giving them love and care!!!

Viajaron al su paraiso/they travelled to their paradise

Rayo y Bosco ya estan en su paraiso. El sabado se fue Bosco (blanco)en avion a su casa de adopcion en Belgica despues de haber estado 3 1/2 meses en mi refugio. La primera foto suya es cuando estaba en la perrera y luego en su casa de adopcion. Fijaros ya en la expresion de los ojos. Que cambio! Logicamente este cambio ya empezo cuando estuvo conmigo, pero bueno, ahora ya se le ve lo feliz que esta. Y ademas ha tenido la suerte de que en Belgica hace mejor tiempo que aqui....Que te vaya bien Bosco! Te lo has merecido igual que otros pero tu has tenido la suerte que otros quisaz no tendran....

El abuelito es Rayo. Rayo fue entregado en un refugio por su cazador junto con Fortuna (ya adoptada en Belgica). Ya no querria cazar mas y no era capaz de entregarlo en una perrera. Menos mal que algunos son mas o menos buenos, vamos a decir mejor que otros porque quien puede dejar a sus perros a estas edades? Nunca lo entendere. Pero bueno, a pesar de que Rayo tiene 10 años, tuvo Filaria y me costo que mejorara, se ha ido hoy a una familia de acogida en Holanda. Una familia de acogida que sabe que posiblemente nunca se adoptara con esta avanzada edad pero no les importa. Tienen mas galgos, un terreno grande y un bosque donde pasean. Por fin va a tener este amor de perro una vida digna aunque sea a esta edad pero nunca es tarde!

Todos los galgos que cruzan mi camino son especiales pero mi Rayo y yo estabamos enamorados el uno del otro. Como saltaba de alegria cuando llegaba al refugio, cuando me iba lloraba. Ya corria y hasta jugaba! pero bueno, donde mejor que en una casa???? Un beso Rayo y que disfrutes de tu nueva vida.

Mañana se va Dama, la galguita de 7 años que tengo en acogida desde hace 4 meses. Va a ser durisimo porque es un cielo y la echaremos muchisimo de menos pero conozco la familia a donde va, ya me adoptaron una galga el año pasado, y se que va a estar de maravilla asi que me aguantare por el bien de ella y asi podre dar una oportunidad a otra. Pero habra muchas lagrimas.....

Rayo and Bosco are now in their paradise. Last saturday Bosco (white) travelled by plane to Belgium where his adoption family was waiting for him. He had been in my shelter for 3 1/2 months. The first foto is when he was at the killingstation, the others at his new home. Look what a difference in the look of his eyes! What a change. This change started of course already when he was at the shelter but now he really looks happy, happy. And he is so lucky because the weather in Belgium is better than it is here! Good luck Bosco! You have deserved this like others but the others may not have had the oportunity you have had....

The "grandfather" is Rayo. Rayo was handed to a shelter toghether with Fortuna(adopted in belgium also). This man stopped hunting and he wasnot able to bring his dogs to a killinstation. Well, some hunters are more or less ok or let´s say better than others but how can you drop your dog after 10 years??? I will never be able to understand. Eventhough Rayo is 10 years old there is a family in Holland who has decided to foster him knowing that it will be difficult someone adopts him but they donot mind. He was ill of Filaria and it has taken me quite a long time to get him healthy. His foster family has other dogs, they live in a house with a big garden and a wood next to it so they walk the dogs a lot. All galgos who cross my path are special but Rayo....Rayo and I were in love with each other. You should have seen him when I arrived at the shelter. Jumping of joy and even playing! but where can he be better off than in a home environment? Kisses Rayo and enjoy your new life!

Tomorrow my little foster dog Dama will leave to Holland to her forever home. That will be hard and very sad but I know the family she goes to, they adopted one of my foster dogs last year and I know that she will be loved and looked after very much. So I have to think again that I can now give a chance to another poor one......but nevertheless there will be lots of tears!

Unas chicas de un refugio de Sevilla (El Albergue) fueron avisadas sobre el hecho que habia una galga en un contenedor de basura que habia estado llorando toda la noche. Nadie hizo nada y hasta los vecinos dijeron que como se habia callado estaria ya muert! Menos mal que hubo alguien con alma caritativa y aviso a este refugio. Fueron al lugar y menos mal que Esperanza , asi la han llamado, seguia respirando. Pero en que condiciones esta!!! deshidratada, cansada de luchar por sobrevivir. Ya llevo mucho tiempo en esto pero sigo llorando cada vez que veo estas imagenes. Y como puede seguir ocurriendo esto a tan gran escala? Ya empiezas a pensar que los que han se han llevado a la perrera han sido afortunados porque suelen salir de alli aunque....no todos.

No lo entendere nunca y tampoco entendere nunca que en el año 2011 no ha habido ningun partido politico que se haya preocupado por este tema. Y eso que pertenecemos a la CE, no se como no nos han echado ya.

Some girl from a shelter in Seville called "Alberque" were advised about a galgo which had been dropped in a container in a plastic bag. The neighbours said that they had heard her crying the whole night but that she had stopped crying so probably dead! Noone did anything exept this person who called the Albergue. The people who didn´t rescue her, hearing her cries of pain, are as guilty as the hunters. I have been doing this now for quite a long time but I have tears in my eyes every time I read a story like this. Will this never stop? Will there never be a political party who cares? We live in year 2011 and are part of the Eurpoean Comunity......I donot understand why we haven´t been kicked out yet.

Dedicacion a Mara 2/A dedication to Mara 2

Nunca mas llamare a una galga rescatada Mara porque las dos que nombre asi han muerto. La primera que saque y de la que he hablado antes fue directamente al hospital porque ya estaba muy mal cuando la saque de la perrera y al final, despues de 5 dias ingresada hubo que sacrificarla. Saque a Mara dos el dia 15 de Abril. Tenia un poquito de tos pero todos salen con esto de la perrera. Se tratan y, aunque tarda mucho en curarse, se curan al final. No asi con Mara 2. A pesar de haberle puesto las vacunas y tenerla en tratamiento con antibioticos, no mejoraba. El domingo estaba peor y el lunes la lleve al veterinaria. Sospecha de moquillo....Virus destructivo total que ademas no tiene solucion. Se le puso suero con vitaminas, antibiotico injectable y se reanimo un poco esa tarde. Comio bien por la noche y le puse un abriguito para que pasara la noche. El dia siguiente llegue a las 8.30 para ver como estaba y estaba fatal la pobre. La tuve que coger en brazos para llevarla al coche porque no querria ni andar. Cuando llegue al veterinario y la vio, nos miramos y decidimos dormirla porque las sintomas eran 100% de moquillo y esa enfermedad no tiene remedio. Por lo menos murio en mis brazos y fue feliz y querrida en los pocos dias que estuvo en el refugio. Es muy triste, solo tenia 3 añitos. Si estos galgueros les pusiesen las vacunas desde cachorros no pasarian estas cosas, pero ya sabemos que ellos pasan totalmente del buenestra de sus perros. Total, los van a tirar. Para que hacer una inversion!!!

I will never call a saved galga Mara again because the first one I named like that went straight into the vet hospital and after 5 days I had to decide to put her to sleep. I took Mara 2 out of the killingstation on 15 April. She had a bit of a cough but they all do (kennel cough) so I had her on antiotics, she had had her vaccination etc. The kennel cough normally takes about 1 1/2 month to heal but Mara didn´t get better. Last Sunday she looked worse so I took her to the vet on Momday. They saw her and she was suspisious of destemper, a terrible virus which finally means the dead of the dog. The put her on serum with vitamins, an injetion of antibiotics and when I took her to the kennel she looked a bit better, had special food which she ate well and I put her a coat on for the night. The next day I arrived there at 8.30 and she looked much worse. To the vet again and when she saw her we looked at each other and had to decide to put her to sleep. So so sad and only 3 years old. If the galgueros would vaccinate their dogs from the beginning those things wouldn´t happen but why should they if they think of throwing them away, why should they invest in them????? No comments

de la perrera de Jerez a los EEUU/ from the killingstation of Jerez to the USA

Esto son Rocky y Marlo. Aparentemente dos galgos y ya esta, no? Pues no. Tienen su historia maravillosa. Fueron sacados de la perrera de Jerez por una protectora de Valencia y.....adoptados en EEUU nada menos! Viajaron el dia 20 desde Madrid. Ya de por si el vuelo es largo para estos pobres pero encima tuvieron la mala suerte de que el avion tuvo que hacer un aterizaje de emergencia por un caso medico en los Azores. Despues de una largo viaje llegaron al otro lado del oceano y ni siquiera se habian hecho pipi en en transportin! Se han adaptado enseguida a sus nuevos hogares. Logico si piensas que les estan dando pollo cocido con arroz y verduras y sobre todo muchas caricias, cosa que nunca han tenido en su vida anterior.

These are Rocky and Marlo. They look like any other galgo, no? Yeah...but they are very special. They were rescued from the Jerez killingstation by a shelter in Valencia and.....adopted in the USA. They travelled on the 20 March from Madrid. The flight itself is long but on top of that the aircraft had to make an emergency landing due to a medical case. When they finally arrived in the USA they hadn´t even peed in their crates! They have adapted very well in their new homes. Understandable they feed you with chicken, rice and vegetables but specially because they receive much love, something you haven´t felt in your previous life.
